His/Her Worship the Mayor of Woollahra is the head of Woollahra Municipal Council, which is a local government area covering part of the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney in the State of New South Wales, Australia. First incorporated on 20 April 1860 as the Municipality of Woollahra, under the terms of the ''Municipalities Act of 1858'', the first leaders of the Council were titled "Chairman" until the 1858 act was replaced by the ''Municipalities Act of 1867'', which introduced the title of "Mayor". On 1 July 1993 following the enactment of a new Local Government Act, elected representatives of the council were to be known as "Councillor", replacing the former title of "Alderman". John Neild
John Cash Neild (4 January 1846 – 8 March 1911) was an Australian politician who served as a Senator from New South Wales from 1901 to 1910. Neild's family arrived in Australia in 1860, and he worked as an insurance agent and company manager before winning election to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly in 1885. He served intermittently until 1901 and had a tumultuous career as a backbencher, eventually contributing significantly to the fall of the Reid government in 1899. He also established his own volunteer regiment, which had a difficult and sometimes hostile relationship with military command. Neville Gruzman
Neville Gruzman, AM (14 November 1925 – 1 May 2005) was an Australian architect, mayor of Woollahra, writer and architectural activist. He is considered to have exerted a decisive influence on Sydney's architecture, mostly through his dedication to designing architecture that reacts to the landscape and to the needs of the client. Vice Admiral David Willoughby Leach, (17 July 1928 –19 January 2020) was a senior officer of the Royal Australian Navy, who served as Chief of the Naval Staff from 1982 to 1985.
