The Mayor of Frankfurt (German: (male) or (female), sometimes translated as "Lord Mayor") is the highest-ranking member of city government in Frankfurt, Germany. The mayor was traditionally elected by the city council. This system was replaced in 1995, and the position has been directly elected. Petra Roth
Petra Roth (born 9 May 1944 in Bremen) is a German politician of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU). She was the Mayor of Frankfurt from 1995 to 2012. In addition she twice served as president of the Deutscher Städtetag, resuming her previous post there in 2009. The group is the head organization and lobby group for all German cities vis-à-vis the Cabinet of Germany, the German Bundestag, the Bundesrat of Germany, the European Union (EU) and many organizations. Life Petra Roth is descended from a Bremen-based family of merchants. After she left the Kippenberg-Gymnasium, which has a special concentration in music, with a General Certificate of Secondary Education, she completed an apprenticeship as a medical secretary. Ludwig Landmann
Ludwig Landmann (18 May 1868 – 5 March 1945) was a liberal German politician of the Weimar Republic. Landmann belonged first to the National Social party, then the Progressive People's Party, and finally, after the German revolution of 1918, the German Democratic Party. He eventually moved from Mannheim to Frankfurt, where he became Mayor of Frankfurt from 1924 until 1933 and led a significant expansion of the city. Through reorganizations and construction, Landmann gave the city new luster. Landmann was the first Jewish mayor of Frankfurt. At the time he was mayor he hired the architect Ernst May to organize a new housing project, which became known as the '' New Frankfurt'' (Neues Frankfurt). Georg Voigt (politician)
Georg Philipp Wilhelm Voigt (16 September 1866 – 13 April 1927) was a German politician. Voigt was the mayor of Rixdorf, Barmen, Frankfurt, and Marburg. Political career Voigt, the son of a hotelier, was born in Klein-Schellmühl near Danzig, Prussia (Młyniska, Gdańsk). He studied law between 1886 and 1890 at the universities of Breslau (Wrocław), Berlin and Königsberg (Kaliningrad). Franz Bourchard Ernst Adickes was a German politician. He was the mayor of Dortmund from 1873 to 1876, the mayor of Altona from 1876 to 1879, and mayor of Frankfurt from 14 October 1890 to 1 October 1912. Johannes von Miquel (19 February 1828 – 8 September 1901) was a German statesman. Biography Born Johannes Franz Miquel at Neuenhaus, Kingdom of Hanover on 19 February 1828 as a descendant from a French family that had emigrated during the French Revolution, Miquel learnt law at the universities of Heidelberg and Göttingen. He studied the writings of Karl Marx and became a member of the illegal Communist League until 1852. Miquel was in close correspondence with Marx and active in the Revolutions of 1848–1849. Andreas von Schoeler (born 4 July 1948) is a German politician of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD). He served as the Parliamentary State Secretary for the Federal Ministry of the Interior and Community from 1976 to 1982 and later as the Mayor of Frankfurt between 1991 and 1995.
