The Affero General Public License (Affero GPL and informally Affero License) is a free software license. phpList is an open source software for managing mailing lists. It is designed for the dissemination of information, such as newsletters, news, advertising to list of subscribers. It is written in PHP and uses a MySQL database to store the information. phpList is free and open-source software subject to the terms of the Affero General Public License (AGPL). Overview phpList can manage a list of subscribers and send e-mail messages to large numbers of subscribers. The subscription management, registration, personal data changes and unsubscribe requests are automated. OG Mailinglist (Organic Groups Mailing List) is a module that turns Drupal into a listserv, allowing it to run multiple electronic mailing lists. OG Mailinglist is coded primarily in PHP and requires the Organic Groups modules as well as Phpmailer to run. It is currently maintained by Kyle Mathews and Mattias Põldaru. OG Mailinglist is free software, subject to the requirement of the GNU General Public License. It works with Unix style mail servers such as Postfix, Exim and qmail. It also can interface with Mailgun from Rackspace. Majordomo (software)
Majordomo is a mailing list manager (MLM) developed by Brent Chapman. It is written in Perl and works in conjunction with sendmail on UNIX and related operating systems. The name majordomo is derived from the Latin "major domus" meaning "master of the house"; in English, the word is used to refer to a large household's chief servant. The current version of Majordomo is 1.94.5, released 19 January 2000. The official website warns that it will not work with Perl versions 5.001 and 5.005_01 specifically. It recommends to use Perl 4.036 or the latest version available. Support for Perl 4.036 may not be kept for the future.
