Ghazaouet is a town and commune in Tlemcen Province in northwestern Algeria. According to the 2008 census it has a population of 33774. It is renowned for its fresh fish. The well known Algerian comedian Abdelkader Secteur is also from this town. It was formerly known as Nemours. Majority of Fliti's are also from this region. Cherchell (Arabic: شرشال) is a town on Algeria's Mediterranean coast, west of Algiers. It is the seat of Cherchell District in Tipaza Province. Under the names Iol and Caesarea, it was formerly a Roman colony and the capital of the kingdoms of Numidia and Mauretania. Ténès ( ar, تنس; from Berber TNS 'camping') is a town in Algeria located around 200 kilometers west of the capital Algiers. , it has a population of 65,000 people. History Ténès was founded as a Phoenician port in or before the 8th centuryBC. As with other Phoenician harbors, it fell under the hegemony of Carthage around the 6th centuryBC and of the Romans after the Punic Wars. Its Punic name was Latinized as Cartenna or Cartennae, a plural which suggested the existence of a separate Berber settlement nearby. Ptolemy mentions that the local tribes were known as the "Bakoyta". The city rose to colony status under the empire. It was sacked by the Vandals during their conquest of Roman North Africa. El Kala ( ar, القالة, Latin ''Thinisa in Numidia'') is a seaport of Algeria, in El Tarf Province, 56 miles (90 km) by rail east of Annaba and 10 miles (16 km) west of the Tunisian frontier. Geography Tamentfoust lies on Cape Matifou, which forms the northeast side of the Bay of Algiers. Names The Roman name ' is a latinization of the Punic name (), meaning "Francolin Cape" and referring to nearby Cape Matifou. Ptolemy hellenized the name as ''Rhoustónion'' ( grc-gre, Ῥουστόνιον), and it appears in late sources as Rusgume, Rugunie, and Rusgimia.
