Harry Kenneth Woolf, Baron Woolf, (born 2 May 1933) is a British life peer and retired barrister and judge. He was Master of the Rolls from 1996 until 2000 and Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales from 2000 until 2005. The Constitutional Reform Act 2005 made him the first Lord Chief Justice to be President of the Courts of England and Wales. ''Ashes to Ashes'' is a British fantasy crime drama and police procedural drama television series, serving as the sequel to ''Life on Mars''. The series began airing on BBC One in February 2008. DCI/DI Sam Tyler is a fictional character in BBC One's science fiction/ police procedural drama, ''Life on Mars''. In the original British version of ''Life on Mars'', Tyler is played by John Simm and in the American version he is played by Jason O'Mara. The National Crime Squad (NCS) was a British police organisation which dealt with national and transnational organised and major crimes. Formed in April 1998 after the amalgamation of six former Regional Crime Squads, it merged with parts of HM Customs & Excise and the National Criminal Intelligence Service on 1 April 2006 to become the Serious Organised Crime Agency. Subsequent to the Police Reform Act 2002, the NCS Service Authority reported directly to the Home Office and had nationwide and international jurisdiction. Lee Ross (born 1970) is an English actor known for his roles as nice guy Kenny Phillips in the classic CITV dramedy ''Press Gang'' and as the violent and sadistic Owen Turner in the BBC soap opera ''EastEnders''. He is also known for his work in the drama series '' Dodger, Bonzo and the Rest'', '' Secrets & Lies'' and ''The Catherine Tate Show''. ''Life on Mars'' The character of Chris Skelton has been described as a "dogsbody" who is a "cheeky but likeable character" by the BBC's ''Life on Mars'' website. Storylines ''Life on Mars'' Ray Carling is shown to be similar in character to his boss, DCI Gene Hunt.
