This list of lantern slide collections provides an overview of collections held in institutions internationally. The magic lantern was a very popular medium, particularly so from the 18th to the early 20th Century. There are many collections which remain uncatalogued. Museum Of Precinema
The Museum of Precinema (in Italian: ''Museo del Precinema'') is a museum in the Palazzo Angeli, Prato della Valle, Padua, Italy, related to the history of precinema, or precursors of film. It was created in 1998 to display the Minici Zotti Collection, in collaboration with the Comune di Padova. It also produces interactive touring exhibitions and makes valuable loans to other prestigious exhibitions such as 'Lanterne magique et film peint' at the Cinémathèque Française in Paris and the Museum of Cinema in Turin. Bill Douglas Cinema Museum
The Bill Douglas Cinema Museum (formally the Bill Douglas Centre for the History of Cinema and Popular Culture) is a public museum and an academic research facility on the Streatham Campus of the University of Exeter in England. Founded in 1994 and opened to the public in 1997, the museum houses one of Britain's largest public collections of books, prints, artefacts and ephemera relating to the history and prehistory of cinema. The museum has two galleries of exhibits which are open to the public. There is a reading room for researchers to access and consult materials from the collection by appointment. The Franses Tapestry Archive and Library in London is devoted to the study of European tapestries and figurative textiles. It is the world’s largest academic research resource on the subject. The Cinema Museum - Tomàs Mallol Collection is a museum dedicated to the world of film and moving images. It was created in the city of Girona (Catalonia) from the Tomàs Mallol Collection of pre-cinema and cinema objects, which was acquired in 1994 by the City Council of Girona. The museum was inaugurated on April 8, 1998, the first of its kind in Spain, which hosts a variety of material of cinema and precinema.
