Brett Bigham
Brett Bigham is an American educator. He has won multiple teaching awards for his work as a special education teacher. After publicly declaring that he was gay while accepting an award, Bigham began to have conflicts with his school district. These conflicts led to his firing which caused upheaval in Bigham's district and with Bigham eventually receiving a large financial settlement from the district. Bigham has authored several guidebooks for those with autism. Work as an educator Bigham and his class hosted a citywide prom for youth with disabilities who needed to attend a prom during school hours. It was featured nationwide on NPR and in the monthly newsletter from the United States Department of Education. Flawless Shade is the stage name of Tajh Jordan (sometimes Tajh Patterson), an American drag queen and make-up artist based in Portland, Oregon. A former Miss Gay Oregon, Flawless Shade has been featured in campaigns by Adidas, GLAAD, and Top Level Design. Marie Equi
Marie Equi (April 7, 1872 – July 13, 1952) was an early American medical doctor in the American West devoted to providing care to working-class and poor patients. She regularly provided birth control information and abortions at a time when both were illegal. She became a political activist and advocated civic and economic reforms, including women's right to vote and an eight-hour workday. After being clubbed by a policeman in a 1913 workers' strike, Equi aligned herself with anarchists and the radical labor movement. Equi was a lesbian who maintained a primary relationship with Harriet Frances Speckart (1883 - May 15, 1927) for more than a decade. The two women adopted an infant and raised the child in an early example, for the United States, of a same-sex alternative family. Donna Dresch is an American punk rock musician, perhaps best known as founder, guitarist and bass guitarist of Team Dresch. Dresch has been actively involved in the queercore scene since the 1980s, as the creator of the fanzine ''Chainsaw'' and contributor to several other zines such as ''Outpunk'' and '' J.D.s'', as well as contributing and being featured on the front cover of issue five of Deke Nihilson and Tom Jennings' zine ''Homocore''. Sarah Dougher (born September 15, 1967) is an American singer-songwriter, author, and teacher. Dougher began her musical career playing the Farfisa organ in the Portland, Oregon based band The Crabs, and later joined Cadallaca with Sleater-Kinney frontwoman Corin Tucker. She has also released multiple solo albums. Dougher received a PhD in comparative literature from the University of Texas at Austin in 1997, and teaches in the women's studies department at Portland State University. Carrie Rachel Brownstein (born September 27, 1974) is an American musician, actress, writer, director, and comedian. She first came to prominence as a member of the band Excuse 17 before forming the rock trio Sleater-Kinney. During a long hiatus from Sleater-Kinney, she formed the group Wild Flag.
