Organized Crime
Organized crime (or organised crime) is a category of transnational, national, or local groupings of highly centralized enterprises run by criminals to engage in illegal activity, most commonly for profit. While organized crime is generally thought of as a form of illegal business, some criminal organizations, such as terrorist groups, rebel forces, and separatists, are politically motivated. Many criminal organizations rely on fear or terror to achieve their goals or aims as well as to maintain control within the organization and may adopt tactics commonly used by authoritarian regimes to maintain power. Some forms of organized crime simply exist to cater towards demand of illegal goods in a state or to facilitate trade of goods and services that may have been banned by a state (such as illegal drugs or firearms). Carl Wayne Buntion
Carl Wayne Buntion (March 30, 1944 – April 21, 2022) was an American man convicted of capital murder in Texas and sentenced to death. On April 21, 2022, at the age of 78, he became the oldest inmate to be executed in Texas and the state's first execution of 2022. Early life Buntion was born on March 30, 1944. When he was a child, his father murdered a man in front of one of his sons and was violent towards his whole family. In one incident, he smashed his wife's teeth. Buntion sustained broken bones from the abuse, and he said he had post-traumatic stress disorder because of it. One of his brothers served a twenty-year sentence for an unrelated crime. David Barron Corona
David Barron Corona, (1963 – November 27, 1997) was a Mexican high-ranking member of the Logan Heights Gang, the Mexican Mafia and a hitman for the Tijuana Cartel under the command of drug lord Ramon Arellano Felix. Barron recruited and led a band of Mexican-American Logan Heights gang members as hired enforcers for the Arellano-Felix organization. Background David Barron Corona, aka "Popeye", was a member of the Barrio Logan Heights gang and later the Mexican Mafia ("La Eme") prison gang who committed his first murder at the age of 16. Christopher Coke
Christopher Michael Coke, also known as Dudus (born 13 March 1969), is a convicted Jamaican drug lord and the leader of the Shower Posse, a violent drug gang started by his father Lester Coke in Jamaica, which exported "large quantities" of marijuana and cocaine into the United States. Due to their father's drug profits, Christopher and his siblings grew up amidst wealth and attended elite private schools. His sister and brother were killed in drug-related violence, in 1987 and 2004, respectively. Coke was gradually brought into his father's organization. After his father's death in 1992, Coke, at the age of 23, became leader of the gang and the ''de facto'' authority of the Tivoli Gardens community in West Kingston. Raymond "Shrimp Boy" Chow
Raymond Kwok-Cheung Chow (; born December 31, 1959), nicknamed "Shrimp Boy", is a Hong Kong-born felon with ties to a San Francisco Chinatown street gang and an organized crime syndicate, including the American branch of the Hong Kong-based triad Wo Hop To and the Hop Sing Boys. In 2006, Chow became the leader of the Ghee Kung Tong (CKT), a Chinese fraternal association based in San Francisco, California. In 2014, Chow along with 28 other defendants including former California State Senator Leland Yee, were indicted for racketeering, money laundering, and a host of other alleged criminal activities. Leland Yee pleaded guilty to racketeering in July 2015 for conspiring with his campaign fundraiser to defeat donation limits through money laundering. Peter Chong (criminal)
Peter Chong (, aka "Uncle" Chong, born in 1943) is an organized crime figure previously convicted of racketeering and extortion who has been described by prosecutors as the former leader of the Wo Hop To syndicate in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Criminal activities Chong came to the U.S. from Hong Kong in 1982, ostensibly to start a Chinese opera company, but was accused in court documents of becoming the boss of the Wo Hop To (和合圖) crime syndicate in northern California, a gang involved in loan sharking and extorting protection money from restaurants and gambling dens. Samuel Christian (March 20, 1939 – March 6, 2016) also known as Richard Carter, Sam 'Beyah' Christian, and Suleiman Bey, was the founder of the Black Mafia, Philadelphia Black Mafia. Christian changed his name upon joining the Nation of Islam and eventually became captain in their paramilitary unit, the Fruit of Islam. Michael Chen (gangster)
Michael Chen (c. 1950–March 13, 1983) was a Chinese-born American gangster who was leader of the Flying Dragons gang from the late 1970s and early 1980s. Early life Michael Chen, was born in the Canton region of China in 1950, and the family re-located to British Hong Kong shortly thereafter. During this period, tensions existed in Hong Kong between a corrupt police force, Chinese communist agitators, and the Hong Kong colonial government. This, along with other socio-economic pressures drove Chen's father to emigrate to the United States after Chen was conceived, but before he was born. In 1963, when he was 13 years old, Chen, his mother and his sister left Hong Kong to re-unite with Chen senior in New York City. Donald Eugene Chambers
Donald Eugene Chambers (November 23, 1930 – July 18, 1999) was an American United States Marine Corps, Marine, Outlaw motorcycle club, outlaw biker and founder of the Bandidos Motorcycle Club, in 1966 in San Leon, Texas. Chambers was convicted of murdering two drug dealers in 1972 and served a life sentence until his parole in 1983. Biography Chambers served as a United States Marine Corps, Marine in the Vietnam War. Upon returning to Texas, he was employed as a longshoreman and became a member of numerous motorcycle clubs. Ruben Cavazos
Ruben Cavazos (born December 28, 1956) is an American criminal, and former International President of the Mongols Motorcycle Club. His autobiography, ''Honor Few, Fear None: The Life & Times of a Mongol'', was published by HarperCollins in 2008. Cavazos was raised by his father in Highland Park, Los Angeles, California and joined the Avenues, a Mexican American street gang, at an early age before serving time in county jail. He has a license to work as a radiology technician, hence the nickname "Doc". He later became a member of the Mongols and is one of the gang's most infamous members. He has been blamed for turning the club into one of the largest criminal organizations on the West Coast of the United States during his time as President. Genaro Ruiz Camacho
Genaro Ruiz Camacho, Jr. (September 14, 1954 – August 26, 1998), aka Geno Camacho, was a cannabis dealer and organized crime leader in Texas who was linked to four murders and eventually executed by the state of Texas. Crime On May 20, 1988, David L. Wilburn, 25, who worked for Sam Wright, 57, and had a mental disability, unwittingly interfered when Camacho and two accomplices tried to kidnap Wright, Evellyn Banks, 31, and Banks's 3-year-old son Andre. Wilburn was forced to lay down in Wright's home and was then shot in the back of the head, for no apparent reason. After the murder, Wright managed to escape, but Camacho and his accomplices kidnapped Evellyn and Andre Banks and killed them three days later. After this, he fled to Mexico.
