Michele Placido
Michele Placido (; born 19 May 1946) is an Italian actor, film director, and screenwriter. He began his career on stage, and first gained mainstream attention through a series of roles in films directed by the likes of Mario Monicelli and Marco Bellocchio, winning the Berlinale's Silver Bear for Best Actor for his performance in the 1979 film ''Ernesto''. He is known internationally for portraying police inspector Corrado Cattani on the crime drama television series '' La piovra'' (1984–2001). Placido's directorial debut, '' Pummarò'', was screened Un Certain Regard at the 1990 Cannes Film Festival. Three of his films have competed for the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival. Alessandro Gassmann (born 24 February 1965) is an Italian actor and film director. Early life Gassmann was born in Rome, Italy, the son of Italian actor Vittorio Gassman and French actress Juliette Mayniel. He is of German, Jewish and French descent. Career He debuted at 17 in the autobiographical film ''Di padre in figlio'', written and directed with his father, under whose tutoring he later studied in the Theatre Workshop of Florence. Among his theatrical activity, he was noted for his playing in Pier Paolo Pasolini's '' Affabulazione'' (1984). Giorgio Tirabassi (born 1 February 1960) is an Italian film, television, and stage actor, as well as director. Life and career Born in Rome, Tirabassi made his debut as an actor in avant-garde theater and then worked at the Teatro Stabile di Catania. Since 1982, he has been a member of the stage company of Gigi Proietti. His breakout role was the inspector Ardenzi in the Canale 5 crime TV-series '' Distretto di Polizia''. In 2001, he made his directorial debut with the short ''Non dire gatto'', winning a David di Donatello for Best Short Film. Luca Zingaretti (; born 11 November 1961) is an Italian actor and film director, known for playing Salvo Montalbano in the '' Inspector Montalbano'' mystery series based on the character and novels created by Andrea Camilleri. Rocco Antonio Papaleo (born 16 August 1958) is an Italian actor, film director and singer. Born in Lauria ( Basilicata), he moved to Rome to study math at university but left soon to attend the theatre school. He made his theatrical debut in 1985 acting ''Sussurri rapidi'' by Salvatore Di Mattia. In 1989, he made his first cinema appearance in ''Senza Pelle'', directed by Alessandro D'Alatri and appeared in the television series '' Classe di ferro''. He is known for his long collaboration with director Leonardo Pieraccioni. Sergio Rubini (born 21 December 1959) is an Italian actor, film director and screenwriter. Life and career Rubini was born in Grumo Appula, Apulia, but soon moved to Rome to study acting. After some roles in theater, he debuted in a feature film with ''Figlio mio infinitamente caro'' (1985), which was followed by ''Desiderando Giulia'' and ''Il caso Moro''. Alessandro D'Alatri (born 24 February 1955) is an Italian film director, screenwriter and former actor. Born in Rome, as a teenager D'Alatri was active as a stage and film actor and worked with Luchino Visconti, Giorgio Strehler, Vittorio De Sica among others. In 1970s he decided to focus on directing, and after a long apprenticeship as a director of commercials, that led him to be awarded for best AD director at the 1987 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, in 1991 he directed a first feature film, '' Americano rosso'', for which he won the David di Donatello for Best New Director. ''Commediasexi'' is a 2006 Italian comedy film. Plot Starring Paolo Bonolis, Sergio Rubini and Stefania Rocca, the film mocks the Italian political class and its hypocrisy. The zealot politician Massimo (Paolo Bonolis), proponent of a law about the defense of family, has a secret love affair with Martina, a young emerging actress (Elena Santarelli). To divert any suspicions, he brings his family on holiday to Paris and tasks his driver, Mariano (Sergio Rubini), with looking after his beloved. After photos portraying Mariano and Martina as lovers are published in local gossip magazines, Mariano's wife faints, is hospitalized and leaves him.
