Archery Association Of India
Archery Association of India (AAI) is the national governing body of archery in India. Its headquarters are located in New Delhi, and its current president is Arjun Munda, AAI is a non-profit, government funded organisation affiliated by World Archery Federation (IAF), Asian Archery Federation (AAF) and Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and recognized by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of India. AAI came into existence on 8 August 1973 after archery was reintroduced to the Olympic Games in 1972. It is responsible for organising, promoting and controlling the sport of archery in India. Cherukuri Lenin
Cherukuri Lenin (; 1985 or 1986 – 24 October 2010) was an Indian archer and coach. He was the son of Cherukuri Satyanarayana. In 2005, he won a silver medal at the Asian Grand Prix in Malaysia. He was a National Archery Coach under Limba Ram. His students Ritul Chatterjee and Chittibomma Jignas won silver medals in the Archery compound team event at the 2010 Commonwealth Games at New Delhi. Gora Ho
Gora Ho is an Indian archer based in Balijhudi village, Rajnagar. He is also known as the Golden Boy. Early life Gora, youngest son of Khaireu Ho comes from a poor family of farmers. He lost his mother Chameni in 2016 and was since looked after by his three elder brothers. He began his training at Arjuna Archery Academy and was later moved to Dugni Archery Academy in Seraikela by B Srinivas Rao. Career In 2014, at the age of 13, he earned recognition after receiving three gold medals at National School Games in Ranchi and in 2015 he won 10 more medals at Jharkhand Archery Championship. Atanu Das
Atanu Das (born 5 April 1992) represents India in the recurve men's individual and team events. His current world ranking is 9 as of 22 July 2021. He is the spouse of World No. 1 Indian archer Deepika Kumari. Career Das started archery at the age of 14 under the coaching of Mithu Da. In 2008, he moved to Tata Archery Academy where he was trained under the Korean coach Lim Chae Wong. He made his international debut in 2008. Das won the bronze medal, with Deepika Kumari, in the 2013 World Cup mixed team event organized in Colombia. Deepika Kumari and Atanu Das beat Sjef van den Berg and Gabriela Schloesser of Netherlands and fetch India a third gold medal at the World Cup. Rahul Banerjee (archer)
Rahul Banerjee (born 15 December 1986) is an Indian Olympic and Arjuna Awardee archer. Career Banerjee started archery at the age of thirteen. His sister Dola Banerjee is also an Olympic archer. His first international appearance was in Youth World Championship in 2004; he won a team silver medal, which was the first world level medal for Indian archers. He won several gold medals at the World Cups in 2008, 2009 and 2010, as well as an individual gold medal in the Asian Grand Prix in 2009–2010. At the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, he won a gold medal in the individual recurve event and he is the First Indian Archer to win gold at CWG and a team bronze medal. Jyothi Surekha Vennam
Jyothi Surekha Vennam is an Indian compound archer. She has won multiple gold medals in the compound archery event at the Archery World Cup, World Archery Championships and Asian Games. In 2023, she became the first Indian archer to win a gold medal at the World Archery Championships and multiple gold medals at the Asian Games. She was awarded the Arjuna award, India's second highest sporting honor in 2017 becoming the youngest from South India to win the award.
