List Of ISO Technical Committees
This is a list of ISO Technical Committees. ISO or International Organization for Standardization is a standards-making body, similar to IEC or International Electrotechnical Commission. ISO works with National Committees in different countries in preparing and maintaining standards. ISO is the largest developer and publisher of international standards in the world. Technical Committees The ISO standards making process, similar to many other standards making processes, is handled by various technical committees or TCs as they are called. The TCs are the key bodies that drive the standardization and comprise experts from the national committees and are a completely voluntary effort. This list is intended to detail the various technical committees of ISO, the scope of the committees, their key members and the key relevance and outputs of these committees. ISO/IEC JTC 1
ISO/IEC JTC 1, entitled "Information technology", is a joint technical committee (JTC) of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). Its purpose is to develop, maintain and promote standards in the fields of information and communications technology (ICT). JTC 1 has been responsible for many critical IT standards, ranging from the Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) image formats and Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG) audio and video formats to the C and C++ programming languages. History ISO/IEC JTC 1 was formed in 1987 as a merger between ISO/TC 97 (Information Technology) and IEC/TC 83, with IEC/SC 47B joining later. The intent was to bring together, in a single committee, the IT standardization activities of the two parent organizations in order to avoid duplicative or possibly incompatible standards. At the time of its formation, the mandate of JTC 1 was to develop base standards in information tec ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

ISO TC 279
ISO/TC 279 is a technical committee of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Its purpose is to develop, maintain and promote standards in the fields of innovation management. The first plenary meeting of ISO/TC 279 was held in Paris on 4 to 5 December 2013 under the leadership of its first chairperson and founder, Alice de Casanove (mandate 2013-2021). The ISO/TC279 is in charge of the ISO 56000 series (temporarily numbered ISO 50500 series) Scope and mission The scope of ISO/TC 279 is to standardize terminology, tools, methods and interactions between relevant parties to enable innovation in established organizations. Each published standard within the ISO 56000 series should remove lack of harmonization in the field of innovation management and allow the professionalisation of this function. Some of the standards developed in the 56000 series are strictly informational, best practice, they cannot be used as a certification basis. For innovating organizati ... Standardization
Standardization or standardisation is the process of implementing and developing technical standards based on the consensus of different parties that include firms, users, interest groups, standards organizations and governments. Standardization can help maximize compatibility, interoperability, safety, repeatability, or quality. It can also facilitate a normalization of formerly custom processes. In social sciences, including economics, the idea of ''standardization'' is close to the solution for a coordination problem, a situation in which all parties can realize mutual gains, but only by making mutually consistent decisions. History Early examples Standard weights and measures were developed by the Indus Valley civilization.Iwata, Shigeo (2008), "Weights and Measures in the Indus Valley", ''Encyclopaedia of the History of Science, Technology, and Medicine in Non-Western Cultures (2nd edition)'' edited by Helaine Selin, pp. 2254–2255, Springer, . International Classification For Standards
International Classification for Standards (ICS) is an international classification system for technical standards. It is designed to cover every economic sector and virtually every activity of humankind where technical standards may be used. Developed and maintained by the International Organization for Standardization, the ICS is intended to be a continuous work in progress and is updated when necessary. The latest edition of the ICS can be downloaded free of charge from the ISO web site. Anyone may submit a proposal for modifications or additions to the ICS. Purpose The ICS serves as a structure for catalogues and databases of technical standards and other normative documents, and as a basis for standing-order systems for international, regional and national standards. Classification principles The ICS uses an hierarchical classification, which consists of three nested levels called ''fields'' (Level 1), ''groups'' (Level 2) and ''sub-groups'' (Level 3). Each ''field'' is ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

List Of IEC Standards
This is an incomplete list of standards published by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). The numbers of older IEC standards were converted in 1997 by adding 60000; for example IEC 27 became IEC 60027. IEC standards often have multiple sub-part documents; only the main title for the standard is listed here. * IEC 60027 Letter symbols to be used in electrical technology * IEC 60028 International standard of resistance for copper * IEC 60034 Rotating electrical machines * IEC 60038 IEC Standard Voltages * IEC 60041 Field acceptance tests to determine the hydraulic performance of hydraulic turbines, storage pumps and pump-turbines * IEC 60044 Instrument transformers * IEC 60045 Steam turbines * IEC 60050 International Electrotechnical Vocabulary * IEC 60051 Direct acting indicating analogue electrical measuring instruments and their accessories * IEC 60052 Voltage measurement by means of standard air gaps * IEC 60055 Paper-insulated metal-sheathed cables for rated ... List Of IEC Technical Committees
The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is a standards-making body in the field of electrical and electronics technologies. The IEC works with National Committees in different countries in preparing and maintaining standards in this space. IEC is one of the oldest standards making bodies in existence. Standards The IEC standards making process, similar to many other standards making processes, is handled by various technical committees (TC) and subcommittees (SC). TCs report to the SMB (Standardization Management Board). Each TC defines its scope (or area of activity) which is submitted to the SMB for approval. Any TC can form one or more SCs depending on the extent of its work programme. SCs define their scope under the parent TC to which they report directly. TC membership is composed of the IEC NCs (National Committees), all of which are free to take part in the work of any given TC. IEC has more than technical experts working on standards voluntarily. ISO/TC 292
ISO/TC 292 Security and resilience is a technical committee of the International Organization for Standardization formed in 2015 to develop standards in the area of security and resilience. The Technical Management Board of ISO (TMB) decided in June 2014 to create a new ISO technical committee with the number ISO/TC 292 by merging three committees into one. The work of ISO/TC 292 officially started on 2015-01-01 and the three previous committees were dissolved and their workprogrammes moved to the new committee. ISO/TC 292 also was given the responsibility for the ISO 28000 series (Security management in the supply chain)previously developed by ISO/TC 8. The TMB decision was made in order to clarify ISO's structural organization on security matters, and to prepare for future topics in this field by creating a de facto coordination body within the TC central structure. IT was believed that ISO/TC 292 would lead to optimization as well as limit and prevent conflict or duplica ... Clean Cooking
One aspect of energy poverty is lack of access to clean, modern fuels and technologies for cooking. As of 2020, more than 2.6 billion people in developing countries routinely cook with fuels such as wood, animal dung, coal, or kerosene. Burning these types of fuels in open fires or traditional stoves causes harmful household air pollution, resulting in an estimated 3.8 million deaths annually according to the World Health Organization (WHO), and contributes to various health, socio-economic, and environmental problems. A high priority in global sustainable development is to make clean cooking facilities universally available and affordable. Stoves and appliances that run on electricity, liquid petroleum gas (LPG), piped natural gas (PNG), biogas, alcohol, and solar heat meet WHO guidelines for clean cooking. Stoves that burn biomass more efficiently than traditional stoves are known as "improved cookstoves", and are an important interim solution in areas where deploying cleaner t ...
