List Of IMAX Films
This is a list of films shot partially or in full with IMAX cameras, either on 15/70 film, with the Phantom 65 IMAX 3D, with the ARRI Alexa IMAX, with other IMAX-certified digital cameras or IMAX Live Events shot with IMAX-certified cameras. Films that may have been projected onto IMAX screens using a standard 35mm print, such as '' Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith'', are not listed. The US premiere dates are displayed where available. Due of the ease of downconverting, most IMAX 3D films have also been remastered and exhibited in 2D, with an appropriate name change (for example ''Space Station 3D'' becomes ''Space Station''). IMAX is a proprietary system of high-resolution cameras, film formats, film projectors, and theaters known for having very large screens with a tall aspect ratio (approximately either 1.43:1 or 1.90:1) and steep stadium seating. Graeme Ferguson, Roman Kroitor, Robert Kerr, and William C. Shaw were the co-founders of what would be named the IMAX Corporation (founded in September 1967 as Multiscreen Corporation, Limited), and they developed the first IMAX cinema projection standards in the late 1960s and early 1970s in Canada. IMAX GT is the large format as originally conceived. It uses very large screens of and, unlike most conventional film projectors, the film runs horizontally so that the image width can be greater than the width of the film stock. The Serengeti
The Serengeti ( ) ecosystem is a geographical region in Africa, spanning northern Tanzania. The protected area within the region includes approximately of land, including the Serengeti National Park and several game reserves. The Serengeti hosts the second largest terrestrial mammal migration in the world, which helps secure it as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa, and as one of the ten natural travel wonders of the world. The Serengeti is also renowned for its large lion population and is one of the best places to observe prides in their natural environment. ''Destiny in Space'' is a 70mm Canadian-American IMAX documentary film released in 1994. The film was written by Toni Myers, directed by Academy Award-winner Ben Burtt, and narrated by Leonard Nimoy. The film is a showcase of the daily lives of astronauts in space, particularly on the STS-42 Space Shuttle ''Discovery Spacelab mission, as they fix instruments and take measurements. The film includes two Space Shuttle launches and several cargo bay scenes, including an astronaut repairing the Hubble Space Telescope. CGI recreations of the surface of Venus and Mars based on satellite data from JPL are also featured. ''Antarctica'' is a 1991 IMAX film documenting the continent of Antarctica. The film has a 38-minute runtime, and consists of aerial footage of the topography and fauna of the continent.
