Compact Star
In astronomy, the term compact star (or compact object) refers collectively to white dwarfs, neutron stars, and black holes. It would grow to include exotic stars if such hypothetical, dense bodies are confirmed to exist. All compact objects have a high mass relative to their radius, giving them a very high density, compared to ordinary atomic matter. Compact stars are often the endpoints of stellar evolution and, in this respect, are also called stellar remnants. The state and type of a stellar remnant depends primarily on the mass of the star that it formed from. The ambiguous term ''compact star'' is often used when the exact nature of the star is not known, but evidence suggests that it has a very small radius compared to ordinary stars. A compact star that is not a black hole may be called a degenerate star. In June 2020, astronomers reported narrowing down the source of Fast Radio Bursts (FRBs), which may now plausibly include "compact-object mergers and magnetars arising ...

WR 150
WR 150 is a Wolf-Rayet star in the constellation of Cygnus. It is one of the early-type carbon sequence (WCE), and is of spectral type WC5. WR 150 is very far from the Earth, being 28,500 light-years from it. Properties Wolf-Rayet stars are extremely hot stars, and WR 150 is no exception, and is even hotter than most Wolf-Rayet stars. WR 150 has a temperature approaching 90,000 K, similar to WR 111. However unlike WR 111, WR 150 is more than 3 times more luminous than it. As a result, intrinsically, WR 150 is a full magnitude brighter than WR 111. WR 150 loses mass much more quickly than almost any WC star. It loses 10-4.19 M☉ (about ) a year, on a strong stellar wind with a terminal velocity Terminal velocity is the maximum velocity (speed) attainable by an object as it falls through a fluid (air is the most common example). It occurs when the sum of the drag force (''Fd'') and the buoyancy is equal to the downward force of gravit ... of 3,000 kilometres per ...

WR 111
WR 111 (HD 165763) is a Wolf-Rayet (WR) star in the constellation Sagittarius. It is magnitude 7.8 and lies about 5,150 light-years away. It is one of the brightest and most closely studied WR stars. History In 1880, Edward Pickering reported that BD−21°4864 had a spectrum similar to a nova, but it was apparently a non-variable star that had been near 8th magnitude since at least 1849. It was included in Campbell's 1894 paper ''The Wolf-Rayet stars''. In the Henry Draper Catalogue, BD−21°4864 was listed as entry 165763 with a spectral type of Oa. It was described in 1925 as a "Be star" due to its very strong emission lines, and in 1927 as a class-O star with unusually broad emission features. After the classification of WR stars onto either the nitrogen or carbon sequence, HD 165763 was designated as WC6 and its temperature estimated from the strength of O and C emission. In 1968, the WR spectral classes were revised and HD 165763 was used as an examp ...

EZ Canis Majoris
EZ Canis Majoris (abbreviated to EZ CMa, also designated as WR 6) is binary system in the constellation of Canis Major. The primary is a Wolf-Rayet star and it is one of the ten brightest Wolf-Rayet stars, brighter than apparent magnitude 7. Binary system EZ CMa has an apparent visual magnitude which varies between 6.71 and 6.95 over a period of 3.766 days, along with changes in the spectrum. It has been proposed that it could be a binary star, with a neutron star as companion that would complete an orbit around the Wolf-Rayet with that period, being it the cause of those variations. The General Catalogue of Variable Stars lists it as a possible cataclysmic variable on this basis. It has been argued that the companion does not exist and spectral variations are caused by activity on the star's surface. Observations of the light variations over a four-month period from late 2015 to early 2016 confirmed the clear variations. This was interpreted as a or ...

WR 7
WR 7 (HD 56925) is a Wolf–Rayet star in the constellation of Canis Major. It lies at the centre of a complex bubble of gas which is shocked and partially ionised by the star's radiation and winds. The distance is uncertain, with estimates between 3.5 kiloparsecs (11,410 light-years) and 6.9 kiloparsecs (22,500 light-years). Assuming a distance of 4.8 kiloparsecs (15,600 light-years), this star is calculated to be 229,000 times brighter than the Sun, 13 times more massive, and 1.26 times larger with a surface temperature of 112,200 K. This makes it currently the second smallest known WN star in the galaxy, after WR 2. Stars of its kind are characterised by a rapid loss of stellar mass, driven by chemically enriched high-speed stellar winds. It is estimated that it loses mass at the rate of 7x10−5 solar masses each year through winds of 1,545 km/s. The ring nebula NGC 2359 is excited by the ionising radiation of WR7. It is also known as Thor's Helmet or the Duc ...

WR 46
WR 46 (DI Crucis) is a Wolf-Rayet star in the constellation of the Crux, Southern Cross of apparent magnitude +10.8. It is located at 55 Minute of arc, arcmin north of Theta2 Crucis. The star is a member of the distant stellar association Cru OB4, and is around 2,900 parsecs or 9,300 Light-year, light years from the Solar System. Features WR 46 has spectral type WN3, with peculiarities in the spectrum including unusually broad Spectral line, emission lines. Its Electromagnetic spectrum, spectrum is characterized by the presence of strong lines of NV and HeII and the absence of hydrogen lines. It is known as a weak-lined WNE star because of the high temperature but relatively weak emission strength. The physical parameters of WR 46 are all estimates from assumptions about the distance and models for stars of its type, complicated by the suspicion that there is a companion star. The effective temperature is over 110,000K, the luminosity greater than 200,000 times the ...
