Michael Landsberry
Michael Terrence Landsberry (January 20, 1968 – October 21, 2013) was an American math teacher, Marine veteran, and Nevada Air National Guardsman who had served in the war in Afghanistan. During the Sparks Middle School shooting, he unsuccessfully attempted to reason with the shooter, Jose Reyes, before being shot and killed. Early life and education Landsberry was born in Birmingham, Alabama on January 20, 1968. Landsberry attended McQueen High School in Reno and lettered four consecutive years in swimming, soccer and cross country before graduating in 1986. After graduating, he enlisted in the Marine Corps. David Stephen Middleton (born June 25, 1961), known as The Cable Guy, is an American former police officer, kidnapper, murderer, and suspected serial killer. Convicted and sentenced to death for the murders of two women in Nevada committed in 1994 and 1995, he is also the prime suspect in at least one additional murder in Colorado and rapes committed while serving in the Miami-Dade Police Department. Brookey Lee West (born June 28, 1953) is a convicted American murderer who is currently sentenced to life imprisonment at the Florence McClure Women's Correctional Center for the murder of her mother, Christine Smith in February 1998. Though officially convicted of one murder she is suspected to have killed 3 people including her brother and husband. She was also suspected in the attempted murder of Diane Smith. Daryl Mack
Daryl Linnie Mack (August 28, 1958 – April 26, 2006) was an American man who was executed in Nevada for murder. Mack was sentenced to death for the October 1988 rape and murder of Betty Jane May in Reno. The murder went unsolved for twelve years until DNA evidence linked him to the crime. He was already in jail at the time, having been sentenced to life in prison without parole for the April 1994 murder of Kim Parks. He was sentenced to death, waived his appeals and asked to be put to death. Mack was executed via lethal injection at Nevada State Prison on April 26, 2006. Great Basin Murders
The Great Basin Murders is the name given to a series of murders of at least nine women committed between 1983 and 1997 across the states of Wyoming, Utah, Nevada, and Idaho. It derives its name from the Great Basin geographical area, as most of the victims had their bodies dumped near Interstate Highway System, interstate highways that transverse it. Most victims were teenage or adult females who were sexually assaulted then murdered - either by strangulation, stabbing, or shooting - and then abandoned on hilltops, deserted expanses, snowdrifts, or rivers. Some of their bodies were posed post-mortem. This initially led to speculation that all killings were the work of a single serial killer, who was nicknamed "The Great Basin Killer".
