''Home and Away'' is an Australian television soap opera. It was first broadcast on the Seven Network on 17 January 1988. The following is a list of characters that first appeared in 2012, by order of first appearance. The 25th season of ''Home and Away'' began airing from 23 January 2012. Until mid April, characters are introduced by the soap's executive producer, Cameron Welsh. Thereafter, they are introduced by his successor, Lucy Addario. January also saw Peter Phelps debut as Alan Henderson. Henrietta Brown arrived in February, while Christy Clarke began appearing from March. Melissa Gregg and Lottie Ryan made their first appearances in April. Jett James, Natalie Davison and Danny Braxton made their debuts in May. Kyle Bennett and Tim Graham arrived in August, while Tamara Kingsley, Lisa Flemming, Adam Sharpe and his son, Jamie Sharpe, began appearing from October. Home And Away
''Home and Away'' (often abbreviated as ''H&A'') is an Australian television soap opera. It was created by Alan Bateman and commenced broadcast on the Seven Network on 17 January 1988. Bateman came up with the concept of the show during a trip to Kangaroo Point, New South Wales, where he noticed locals were complaining about the construction of a foster home and against the idea of foster children from the city living in the area. The soap opera was initially going to be called ''Refuge'', but the name was changed to the "friendlier" title of ''Home and Away'' once production began. The show premiered with a ninety-minute pilot episode (subsequently in re-runs and on VHS known as ''Home and Away: The Movie''). Since then, each subsequent episode has aired for a duration of twenty-two minutes. Tamara Jane Kingsley is a fictional character from the Australian Channel Seven soap opera ''Home and Away'', played by Kelly Paterniti. Tamara debuted on-screen during the episode airing on 1 October 2012. Originally a guest cast member, Paterniti was promoted to the show's regular cast. Tamara is a country girl, characterised as a "strong-willed and feisty female". Paterniti has described her as "very bold and quite pragmatic". Sasha Bezmel
Sasha Bezmel is a fictional character from the Australian Channel Seven soap opera ''Home and Away'', played by Demi Harman. The actress relocated to Sydney from Brisbane for filming and she stated that winning the role was a dream come true. Harman told a reporter that her character forced changes within herself, which she had difficulty adjusting to. Harman made her first screen appearance as Sasha during the episode broadcast on 31 August 2011. Harman decided to leave the show in 2014 and filmed her final scenes in October. Sidney Walker is a fictional character from the Australian Seven Network soap opera ''Home and Away'', played by Robert Mammone. He made his first on-screen appearance on 30 July 2009. Margaret Henderson (née Watson) (27 May 1921 – 13 February 2007) was a Scottish dancer who made a significant contribution to Scottish country dancing between 1963 and 2007.
