Farooq Sobhan
Farooq Sobhan (born 17 September 1940) is a former Bangladeshi diplomat. He served in various capacities in the Bangladesh government and foreign service. He was Bangladesh's Ambassador to the People's Republic of China (1987–1990) and High Commissioner to Malaysia (1984–1987) and the Republic of India (1992–1995) as well as the Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh (1995–1997). Early life and career Sobhan was born in 1940 in Calcutta during British rule into a Bengali Muslim family. He did his schooling in St. Paul's School, Darjeeling. He attended the University of Dhaka and the University of Oxford before joining the Foreign Service of Pakistan. He is also the younger brother of Rehman Sobhan, an economist. Early life Imran has completed his MBBS from Mymensingh Medical College under the University of Dhaka in 1983. Syed Muazzem Ali
Syed Muazzem Ali (18 July 1944 – 30 December 2019) was a Bangladeshi foreign service officer and career diplomat. In 2020, he was posthumously conferred the Padma Bhushan award, the third-highest civilian honour of India. Early life Ali was born on 18 July 1944 into a Bengali Muslim family from the Sylhet district, Assam Province in British Raj. He traced his paternal descent from Shah Ahmed Mutawakkil, a local holy man and a Syed of Taraf, though apparently unrelated to Taraf's ruling Syed dynasty. Ali's father was Syed Mostafa Ali, a civil servant employed by the British Raj in Assam Province. He completed his bachelor's and master's in zoology with first class from the University of Dhaka.
