Värmland County
Värmland County () is a county or '' län'' in west central Sweden. It borders the Swedish counties of Dalarna, Örebro and Västra Götaland, as well as the Norwegian counties of Østfold, Akershus and Innlandet to the west. The title of Duke of Värmland is claimed by His Royal Highness Prince Carl Philip. Province The county has more or less the same boundaries as Värmland Province, except that the municipalities of Karlskoga and Degerfors are part of Örebro County. Administration Värmland County was formed in 1779, when it was separated from Närke and Värmland County. The main aim of the County Administrative Board is to fulfil the goals set in national politics by the Riksdag and the Government, to coordinate the interests of the county, to promote the development of the county, to establish regional goals and safeguard the due process of law in the handling of each case. Eva Eriksson (politician)
Eva Eriksson, born 1947 in Vara, was Värmland’s county governor in Sweden from 2004-2012. Career Eva Eriksson has been active in politics in Sweden since the early 1990s. Since 2004, along with being Värmland’s county governor, she has been the Chair of the Swedish American Center board. She was also the vice-chair on the Karlstad University Board of Regents. Ingemar Eliasson
Elis Ingemar Eliasson (born 30 March 1939) is a Swedish Liberal People's Party politician with a long and diverse career, having served as government minister, county governor, member of the Parliament and royal court official. Early life Ingemar Eliasson was born in the village of Visnums-Kils, in Värmland County's Kristinehamn Municipality. He holds a Master of Science in business and economics. Career In 1976, Eliasson became Undersecretary of State, and served as such until 1980, when he became minister for employment. Following a career as member of the Parliament from 1982 where he was parliamentary leader of the Liberal People's Party from 1985 until 1990. Bengt Norling
Bengt Norling (1925–2002) was a Swedish social democrat politician who held several government posts. He was the minister of communications (Transport) from 1969 and 1976 and the governor of Värmland from 1977 to 1990. Biography Norling was born in Malmö in 1925 and raised in Norrbotten. At 15 he began to work as a metal worker and then became a railway official in Vansbro. During this period he joined the Swedish Social Democratic Party in Vansbro. In 1956 he was named an ombudsman in the Railway Workers' Associations. Norling was made the secretary of the Swedish Trade Union Confederation. He was appointed the minister of communications (Transport) to the first cabinet of Prime Minister Olof Palme on 14 October 1969. Norling remained in the post until 1976. Abraham Unger (1899–1975) was a 20th-Century American lawyer, co-founder and officer of the National Lawyers Guild, and partner in the law firm of Freedman and Unger. Defendants included: Communist Party (CPUSA), state-level Party organizations, individual Communist and Progressive activists, radical and/or Communist-associated labor unions and their leaders and activists, Puerto Rican nationalists, and fellow lawyers charged with contempt and other crimes in connection with their defense of radicals.
