Filipino Americans
Filipino Americans ( fil, Mga Pilipinong Amerikano) are Americans of Filipino ancestry. Filipinos and other Asian ethnicities in North America were first documented in the 16th century as slaves and prisoners on ships sailing to and from New Spain (Mexico) and a handful of inhabitants in other minute settlements during the time Louisiana was an administrative district of the Viceroyalty of New Spain (Mexico). Mass migration did not begin until the 20th century, when the Philippines was a U.S. territory. As of 2019, there were 4.2 million Filipinos, or Americans with Filipino ancestry, in the United States with large communities in California, Hawaii, Illinois, Texas, and the New York metropolitan area. Terminology The term ''Filipino American'' is sometimes shortened to ''Fil-Am'' or '' Pinoy''. Another term which has been used is ''Philippine Americans''. Charles Klapow
Charles "Chucky" Klapow (born July 5, 1980) is an American choreographer and dance instructor who has performed and choreographed for various performers and several television and stage productions. He is also known for his teachings on the mental approach to dance. Klapow's mother is Filipino, and his father is European-American. Life and career Klapow began his dancing career aged 12, dancing for Patti LaBelle, Celine Dion, Sheila E., Salt-N-Pepa, Melissa Etheridge, and others in an all-star concert for the Pediatric AIDS Foundation. This included a dancing spot in the Paula Abdul music video "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah". By the time he was 15, Charles was an assistant to Choreography, choreographer and mentor Marguerite Derricks. Conrado Gempesaw
Conrado "Bobby" Gempesaw is an academic administrator who served as the 17th president of St. John's University in New York City. He is the first layperson to hold the position since the university's establishment in 1870, as all 16 prior presidents were Vincentian priests. Early life and education Gempesaw is a native of the Philippines and immigrated to the U.S. in 1980 after earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Ateneo de Davao University. After settling in the United States, he earned a Master of Science in Agricultural Economics degree from West Virginia University and a Ph.D in Agricultural Economics from Pennsylvania State University. Des Moines Metro Opera is an opera company in Indianola, Iowa, a town of approximately 14,000 inhabitants which lies some south of Des Moines, Iowa. It was founded by Robert L. Larsen and Douglas Duncan in 1973. The director is Michael Egel. During its annual summer opera festival, the company performs three mainstage operas in rolling repertory during June and July. Programming Most of the company's opera productions are performed at the Blank Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of Simpson College. Jeremy Castro Baguyos (born 1968 in Quezon City, Philippines) is a musician-researcher specializing in the realization of live interactive computer music. Based at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (USA), he is a Professor of Music. His most notable contributions to the field are in the area of live performance combined with interactive computer technology. Kenneth Paul San Jose (born April 10, 2002) is an American dancer. He finished 3rd place in the final round of ''World of Dance Philippines''. Career San Jose was born on April 10, 2002 in Los Angeles. In 2014, he decided to dance instead of singing and started to train in formal hip-hop. He currently learns dancing from various studios, including Movement Lifestyle and Millennium Dance Complex. He changed some dance instructors in order to learn some more moves. Dominic Kyle Sandoval (born October 15, 1985), better known as D-Trix, is an American dancer, YouTube personality, television personality, and actor. He is a member of Quest Crew and former member of Fallen Kingz. Sandoval was a contestant on the third season of ''So You Think You Can Dance'', in which he placed in the Top 8. He then won the third season of ''America's Best Dance Crew'' as a part of Quest Crew. After his win, he became a judge on the show. Brian Puspos
Brian Puspos is a Filipino-American choreographer & recording artist from Houston, Texas. He was a member of SoReal Cru, who were declared runners up in Season 2 of the America's Best Dance Crew (ABDC) championship in 2008. Later, in season 7 of ABDC, Puspos performed with Most Wanted Crew in 2012. In 2012 and 2014, he received the Male Choreographer of the Year title by World of Dance.
