Female Comics Creators
Although, traditionally, female comics creators have long been a minority in the industry, they have made a notable impact since the very beginning, and more and more female artists are getting recognition along with the maturing of the medium. Women creators have worked in every genre, from superheroes to romance, westerns to war, crime to horror. In certain countries, like Japan and South Korea, women creators have shaken up the traditional market and attained widespread mainstream success. Americas United States Newspaper comics In the early 20th century, when the U.S. newspaper comics market was in its infancy, William Randolph Hearst brought the artist Nell Brinkley over from the competing ''Denver Post'', and although not doing comics herself, her romantic and glamorous imagery became an inspiration to a generation of female comics artists. Seung Joo-Kang
The ''sueng'' ( th, ซึง, Burmese: ၄ကြိုးထပ်ပို (ဆီုင်), , also spelled ''seung'' or ''süng'') is a plucked fretted lute from the northern (Lanna) region of Thailand. The instrument is made from hardwood and its strings (numbering either four or six and arranged in courses of two) are most often made of steel wire. It has nine bamboo frets. The ''sueng'' is part of a northern Thai traditional ensemble called the ''salo''-''so (saw)''-''sueng'' ensemble, along with the ''salo'' (3-string spike fiddle) and ''pi so'' (free reed pipe). The ''sueng'' is similar to the ''grajabpi'' (กระจับปี่), an ancient Thai instrument that is used in the classical music of central Thailand. Isol
Marisol Misenta (born 6 March 1972), known professionally under the mononym Isol, is an Argentine creator of children's picture books and a pop singer. For her career contribution to "children's and young adult literature in the broadest sense" she won the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award from the Swedish Arts Council in 2013, the biggest prize in children's literature. Background Isol was born in Buenos Aires where she lives to this day. She studied at the Escuela Nacional "Rogelio Yrurtia" to become a Fine Arts teacher, and spent a few years studying art at the University of Buenos Aires. At some point she abandoned teaching to work full-time as an illustrator and writer of children's books, a natural synthesis of her taste for comics, literature and visual arts.
