''Emperatriz'' is a Mexican telenovela produced by Fides Velasco for TV Azteca, a telenovela adapted from Jose Ignacio Cabrujas's ''Emperatriz (1990 TV series)''. Gabriela Spanic, who had just signed a contract with TV Azteca in late 2011 portrays the title character. ''Emperatriz'' is a Mexican telenovela produced by Fides Velasco for Azteca. It stars Gabriela Spanic as the title character, while Bernie Paz as the male lead. Other casts include Sergio de Bustamante, Julieta Egurrola, Adriana Louvier, Marimar Vega, Miriam Higareda, Alberto Guerra, Rafael Sanchez Navarro and Carmen Delgado. Omar Fierro made special appearance in the first five episodes, and later returns in the final part of the series. The filming process took place between 17 March 2011 and 30 September 2011. Esther Mendoza
Esther is the eponymous heroine of the Book of Esther. In the Achaemenid Empire, the Persian king Ahasuerus seeks a new wife after his queen, Vashti, is deposed for disobeying him. Hadassah, a Jewess who goes by the name of Esther, is chosen to fulfill this role due to her beauty. Ahasuerus' grand vizier, Haman, is offended by Esther's cousin and guardian, Mordecai, due to his refusal to prostrate himself before Haman. Consequently, Haman plots to have all the Jewish subjects of Persia killed, and convinces Ahasuerus to permit him to do so. Sergio Bustamante (October 18, 1934 – May 22, 2014) was a Mexican actor of telenovelas, cinema, dubbing and theater. Life and career Born Sergio Emilio Edgardo de Bustamante y Arteaga Roa, he studied psychology in UNAM and later acted in ''Escuela de Arte Teatral''. His debut as an actor was in ''El duelo'' by Federico S. Inclán. His debut in cinema was ''Una golfa'' in 1957 with Silvia Pinal. With Los Spyders, he recorded "La fiesta magna", and he was a member of Sergio & Los Lunáticos. Bustamante also worked with Los Teen Tops.
