Adel Emam
Adel Emam ( ar, عادل إمام; born 17 May 1940 is an Egyptian film, television, and stage actor. He is primarily a comedian, but he has starred in more serious works and, combined comedy with romance especially in his earlier films, which included ''My Wife, the Director General'', ''My Wife's Dignity'' and ''My Wife's Goblin'' with Salah Zulfikar and Shadia. Emam earned a bachelor's degree in Agriculture from Cairo University. Since then he has appeared in over 103 movies and 10 plays. He is one of the most famous actors in Egypt and the in the Arab world. His contributions to the stage and film industries through addressing social and political issues in film and television earned him a cult following and a worldwide reputation that made him one of the most influential arab public figures in the 80’s and 90’s. Salah Abu Seif
Salah Abu Seif ( ar, صلاح أبو سيف, ) (May 10, 1915 – June 23, 1996) was one of the most famous Egyptian film directors, and is considered to be the godfather of Neorealist cinema in Egyptian cinema. Many of the 41 films he directed are considered Egyptian classics with 11 films in the Top 100 Egyptian films list. His film '' The Beginning and the End'' (1960) was the first adaptation of a novel by Nobel Prize winner Naguib Mahfouz. In 1977 he was a member of the jury at the 10th Moscow International Film Festival. Early life Abu-Seif was born in 1915, in Cairo's ancient quarter of Boolaq, to landowning parents from Upper Egypt. He was 12 years old when he saw the first full- length feature film made by an Egyptian, in 1927, at a local movie-house - earlier films were imports accompanied by Egyptian narrations, or made by Europeans living in Egypt. ''War in the Land of Egypt'' or ''The Egyptian Citizen'' ( ar, المواطن مصري, translit.Al-Moaten Masry) is a 1991 Egyptian drama film directed by Salah Abu Seif, and starting Omar Sharif. It is based on the 1978 novel of the same name by Yusuf al-Qa'id. The film was entered into the 17th Moscow International Film Festival. Synopsis A mayor (Omar Sharif) has many children, and when his youngest son is drafted to serve in the Yom Kippur War of 1973, the family patriarch trades two acres of land to a simple farmer (Ezzat El Alaili) in exchange for the latter’s son to serve in the privileged scion’s place. The situation is complicated when the mayor wins a case against the Land Registry, resulting in an order evicting the farmer from their land in favor of the mayor’s ownership. Crime films, in the broadest sense, is a film genre inspired by and analogous to the crime fiction literary genre. Films of this genre generally involve various aspects of crime and its detection. Stylistically, the genre may overlap and combine with many other genres, such as drama or gangster film, but also include comedy, and, in turn, is divided into many sub-genres, such as mystery, suspense or noir.
