Manama ( ar, المنامة ', Bahrani Arabic, Bahrani pronunciation: ) is the capital and largest city of Bahrain, with an approximate population of 200,000 people as of 2020. Long an important trading center in the Persian Gulf, Manama is home to a very diverse population. The British School of Bahrain (BSB) is a selective, coeducational, independent kindergarten-through-Year 13 school for students between the ages of 3 and 18 located in Hamala, Bahrain. Adliya (Arabic: العدلية) is the bohemian neighborhood in Manama, Bahrain. Overview The district is a multicultural, busy area, a home to commerce, culture and entertainment, and it is considered one of the four centres of Manama's nightlife. In the last few years, many of the old townhouses have been turned into art galleries, cafes and ''chic'' restaurants, causing some analysts to term the area as being bourgeois. Juffair
Juffair ( ar, الجفير) is a district situated in Manama, Bahrain. It was originally a separate village inhabited by Shia Muslims but it has been absorbed by the suburban expansion of Manama in the 20th century, and presently includes large parts of land reclaimed from the sea. It is home to many hotels, restaurants, flats, and villas. It is also the site of Bahrain's largest mosque, Al Fateh Grand Mosque, which houses the National Library. History In 1908, John Gordon Lorimer's ''Gazetteer of the Persian Gulf'' described Juffair as a village located on the northern tip of the cape of Juffair. It boasted 80 reed huts occupied by Baharna, cultivators and fishermen. The village was home to 15 pearling vessels at the time. Bahrain School is a Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) school located in Juffair, Manama, Bahrain. Overview The school is operated by the Bahrain International School Association (BISA) with the United States Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) and takes students from Kindergarten to Twelfth grade. Graduating seniors can earn an American diploma or an International Baccalaureate diploma. Bahrain School is the only DoDEA school in the Persian Gulf area. The closest DoDEA school to Bahrain School is George C. Marshall School in Ankara, Turkey. It provides education primarily to the children of the United States Navy stationed in Bahrain, but historically, about half of the student body has been local enrollment, usually the dependents of diplomatic personnel and ARAMCO employees, as well as wealthy Bahraini citizens. Budaiya
Al Budaiya ( ar, البديع) is a coastal town located in the northwestern region of Bahrain Island, in the Northern Governorate of the Kingdom of Bahrain. It neighbors the villages of Diraz and Bani Jamra. History The town was founded by the Dawasiri tribe, but most of the tribe left en masse to mainland Saudi Arabia in 1923, after conflict emerged with the British colonial authorities. Many Dawasir tribe members later returned to Budaiya, with some still living in the village today. Prior to the discovery of oil in Bahrain, most Budaiya residents were involved in the pearl diving and fishing industry. Bahrain Bayan School (BBS, ar, مدرسة بيان البحرين, ''Madrasat Bayân al-Bahrain''), based in Isa Town, Bahrain, is an independent, non-profit, co-educational, bilingual school in Arabic and English, offering preschool through grade 12.
