This is a list of the notable direct disciples of Paramahansa Yogananda. It is drawn from his book ''Journey to Self-Realization'', unless otherwise noted, and the date and location of first discipleship to Yogananda are given. Direct disciples 1920s * Minott and Mildred Lewis, 1920, Boston. Minott W. Lewis, a Boston dentist, and his wife Mildred were among Yogananda's first disciples in America; they met him shortly after his arrival in America in 1920 and became lifelong disciples. Yogananda
Paramahansa Yogananda (born Mukunda Lal Ghosh; January 5, 1893March 7, 1952) was an Indian Hindu monk, yogi and guru who introduced millions to the teachings of meditation and Kriya Yoga through his organization Self-Realization Fellowship (SRF) / Yogoda Satsanga Society (YSS) of India, and who lived his last 32 years in America. A chief disciple of the Bengali yoga guru Swami Sri Yukteswar Giri, he was sent by his lineage to spread the teachings of yoga to the West, to prove the unity between Eastern and Western religions and to preach a balance between Western material growth and Indian spirituality. Swami Ramdas
Swami Ramdas (; sa, स्वामी रामदास, Svāmī Rāmadāsa, born Vittal Rao on 10 April 1884) was an Indian saint, philosopher, philanthropist and pilgrim. Swami Ramdas became a wandering ascetic in his late 30s and later established Anandashram in Kanhangad, Kerala. Rajarsi Janakananda, born James Jesse Lynn (May 5, 1892 – February 20, 1955) was the leading disciple of the yogi Paramahansa Yogananda and a prominent businessman in the Kansas City, Missouri area. Kriyananda
Kriyananda (born James Donald Walters; May 19, 1926 – April 21, 2013) was an American Hindu religious leader, yoga guru, musician, and an author. He was a direct disciple of Paramahansa Yogananda, and founder of the spiritual movement named "Ananda". He authored over 150 books, and composed about 400 piece of music. In 1998, he was found guilty of "constructive fraud", with a finding of " malice" and " fraudulent conduct" in a sexual harassment lawsuit. He was one of many direct disciples of the yogi, Paramahansa Yogananda. Yogananda made Walters a minister for his organization, Self-Realization Fellowship (SRF). Roy Eugene Davis
Roy Eugene Davis (March 9, 1931 – March 27, 2019) was an American spiritual teacher and author who "established the Georgia-based Center for Spiritual Awareness in 1972". Previously he had founded New Life Worldwide Inc. In 1967, he began publishing Truth Journal Magazine which has now been in continuous publication for 44 years. By 1970 he had authored nine books.
