National Basketball Association
The National Basketball Association (NBA) is a professional basketball league in North America. The league is composed of 30 teams (29 in the United States and 1 in Canada) and is one of the major professional sports leagues in the United States and Canada. It is the premier men's professional basketball league in the world. The league was founded in New York City on June 6, 1946, as the Basketball Association of America (BAA). It changed its name to the National Basketball Association on August 3, 1949, after merging with the competing National Basketball League (NBL). Alaa Abdelnaby
Alaa Abdelnaby ( ar, علاء عبد النبي), (born June 24, 1968) is an Egyptian-American former professional basketball player. He played for the Duke Blue Devils and then played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and Continental Basketball Association (CBA), among other leagues. Abdelnaby is the only player born in Egypt to play in the NBA. Abdelnaby works as a basketball broadcaster and analyst for NBCS Philadelphia, CBS Sports Network, and Westwood One Radio. Kate Scott (sportscaster)
Kate Scott is an American sportscaster who is currently the television play-by-play announcer for the Philadelphia 76ers. She also calls men's and women's soccer for Fox Sports (U.S.) Scott is the first full-time female broadcaster in the city of Philadelphia, and one of the first women to be the primary play-by-play caller for an NBA team. Early life Scott was born in Fresno, California, and raised in Clovis, California. She graduated from Clovis High School in 2001. She attended UC Berkeley where she majored in communications. As a sophomore, she became the school's first female "Mic Man", leading cheers in the student section for their football and basketball games. Rebecca Haarlow
Rebecca Haarlow (born December 20, 1978) is an American sideline reporter for MSG Network, NBA TV, the NBA on TNT, and the Big Ten Network. Previously she served as a sideline reporter for Fox Sports Net, and as an anchor and reporter for the NFL Network. Early years Haarlow is a native of western suburb of Chicago, Illinois. She attended Hinsdale Central High School where she won six Class AA state track and field medals. Haarlow finished eighth in the 800-meter medley relay, eighth in the 400 relay and also finished sixth in the triple jump in 1996. Walter Robert Szczerbiak Jr. ( ; born March 5, 1977) is an American former professional basketball player and current color analyst for the New York Knicks on MSG Network. He played 10 seasons for four teams in the National Basketball Association, and was named an NBA All-Star during the 2001-02 season. He played college basketball for Miami University, and is one of five players to have his Miami jersey retired. Early life Szczerbiak was born in Madrid, Spain, to Marilyn and Walter Szczerbiak, a former ABA player who helped lead Real Madrid to three FIBA European Champions Cup (now called EuroLeague) championships. Walt Frazier
Walter "Clyde" Frazier Jr. (born March 29, 1945) is an American former professional basketball player of the National Basketball Association (NBA). As their floor general and top perimeter defender, he led the New York Knicks to the franchise's only two championships (1970 and 1973), and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1987. Upon his retirement from basketball, Frazier went into broadcasting; he is currently a color commentator for telecasts of Knicks games on the MSG Network. Ed Cohen (born June 25, 1983) is a sportscaster known for his work with ESPN Plus, MLB.com, NHL Network, Rutgers University, MSG Network, and ONE World Sports. He currently serves as the radio play-by-play voice of the New York Knicks. Early life Cohen grew up in Scarsdale, New York, where at the age of 10 years old he knew he wanted to be a sportscaster. The ''NBA on ABC'' is an American presentation of National Basketball Association (NBA) games produced by ESPN, and televised on ABC. After the ABC Sports division was integrated with its cable sister network in September 2006, broadcasts have since primarily used the ''NBA on ESPN'' branding and graphics instead of ''NBA on ABC'' name. The ''NBA on ESPN'' is the branding used for the presentation of National Basketball Association (NBA) games on the ESPN family of networks. The ESPN cable network first televised NBA games from 1982 until 1984, and has been airing games currently since the 2002–03 NBA season. ESPN2 began airing a limited schedule of NBA games in 2002.
