Rockport, Kentucky
Rockport is a home rule-class city in Ohio County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 266 at the 2010 census. The city is descriptively named for the large rocks on a nearby river bank. History Rockport is rooted in a small settlement known as Benton's Ferry, which developed along the Green River in the early 19th century. When a post office was established in 1863, the settlement used the name "Rock Port" (later shortened to a single word). Originally located primarily along the river, most of the city has since shifted to the bluff above the river. Geography Rockport is located at (37.336428, −86.992778). Reedyville, Kentucky
Reedyville is an Unincorporated community in Butler County, Kentucky, United States. The town is supposedly named for the nearby Big Reedy Creek, a tributary of the Green River. Geography The community is located in the easternmost portion of Butler County at coordinates . It is located along Kentucky Route 185 about south of Roundhill, or about north of Bowling Green. Reedyville is part of the Bowling Green Metropolitan Statistical Area, and is part of Kentucky's Western Coal Fields region. Until the early 1960s completion of the KY 185 bridge over the Green River just west of Glenmore, the community was served by a ferry that connected the area to Bowling Green. Glenmore is an unincorporated community located in northern Warren County, Kentucky, United States. Glenmore is part of the Bowling Green Metropolitan Statistical Area. Geography Glenmore is located in extreme-northern Warren County along the Green River. The community is nestled near the tripoint where Warren County’s northern boundaries meet with those of eastern Butler and western Edmonson Counties. History Glenmore once was a small town with a few residences and businesses. One of those businesses was the Massey's Springs Hotel, which operated from the mid-19th century until its 1914 closure. The hotel, which served people traveling via the Green River, was converted into a farm house, where a farming business operated until 1942. It was destroyed by fire sometime around 1944. History Geography Aberdeen is located in central Butler County, at the junction of U.S. Highway 231 and Kentucky Routes 70 and 79, just across the bridge over the Green River from Morgantown. Logansport is an unincorporated community in northwestern Butler County in south-central Kentucky, United States. Logansport is part of the Bowling Green Metropolitan Statistical Area. Geography Logansport is located about northwest of Morgantown. Transportation Logansport is served by two state-maintained highways in the area. Kentucky Route 269 (KY 269) connects the area to U.S. 231 in southern Ohio County via Reed's Ferry on the Green River. KY 403 connects Logansport directly to downtown Morgantown to the southeast. KY 403 previously connected directly to the southern Ohio County community of Cromwell to the north via ferry until sometime in the mid-1960s. Butler County is a county located in the US state of Kentucky. As of the 2020 Census, the population was 12,371. Its county seat is Morgantown. The county was formed in 1810, becoming Kentucky's 53rd county. Butler County is included in the Bowling Green, Kentucky, Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Numerous archaeological sites are located along the Green River in Butler County. A 1932 survey found nine sites, many of which were a group of shell mounds, including the Carlston Annis and DeWeese Shell Mounds.
