A major north–south highway extending almost the entire length of the Florida peninsula, State Road 45 (SR 45) is the unsigned Florida Department of Transportation designation of most of the current U.S. Route 41 in Florida. The southern terminus of SR 45 is an intersection with SR 90 in downtown Naples; the northern terminus is an intersection with US 441 ( SR 25) in High Springs. South of Causeway Boulevard ( SR 676) near Tampa, SR 45 is also known as the Tamiami Trail. Ellenton, Florida
Ellenton is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Manatee County, Florida, United States. The population was 4,129 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Bradenton–Sarasota–Venice Metropolitan Statistical Area. History The oldest structure in Ellenton is the Gamble Plantation, which was built between 1845 and 1850 by Major Robert Gamble. Originally a sugar plantation worked by slaves, the antebellum mansion fell into disrepair after the Civil War. Major George Patten and his wife, Mary, purchased the property in 1870 and named the area "Ellenton" after his daughter Ellen. In 1881, the United States government designated Ellenton as an official post office site. A refining plant for fuller's earth located in Ellenton along the Manatee River opened in 1903. It was owned by the Atlantic Refining Company and had 150+ employees being the biggest refinery the company owned. It would burn down after catching fire twice in 1908 and later in 1912. ... Oneco () is an unincorporated community in Manatee County, Florida, United States. It is a suburb of Bradenton, located just southeast of the city. The community is part of the North Port–Sarasota–Bradenton Metropolitan Statistical Area. In the 1920 Census it was enumerated as Precinct 6. The community reported as a census-designated place by the U.S. Census Bureau from 1960 to 1980. History A post office has been in operation at Oneco since 1889. Parrish, Florida
Parrish is an unincorporated community in northwestern Manatee County, Florida, United States. The community is located near the intersection of U.S. 301 and State Road 62 and is part of the North Port–Sarasota–Bradenton Metropolitan Statistical Area. Parrish contains the Florida Railroad Museum, which operates weekend passenger rides round trip from Parrish about northeast to Willow. Climate History The first "settler" in the area would be William B. Hooker and William H. Johnson who established a plantation named Oak Hill in 1850 with an attempt being made to grow sea-island cotton but this effort failed. This plantation would burn down in the Seminole War but the area would continue to be referred to as Oak Hill. William Turner would make a homestead at Oak Hill in 1865 but only stayed for a few years before establishing Bradenton. He would sell the property to the Parish family in 1868.
