List Of Countries By Internet Connection Speed
This is a list of countries by Internet connection speed for average and median data transfer rates for Internet access by end-users. The difference between average and median speeds is the way individual measurements are aggregated. Average speeds are more commonly used but can give a wrong impression of the actual user experience since fast connections can bias the average results. Median results represent the point where half the population has faster and the other half of the population has slower data transfer rates. Fixed broadband This is a sortable list of broadband internet connection speed by country, ranked by Speedtest.net data for April 2021, and with M-Lab data for May 2020 and SpeedTestNet.io data for March 2021, anBandwidthPlace.comdata for April 2022. Internet Access
Internet access is the ability of individuals and organizations to connect to the Internet using computer terminals, computers, and other devices; and to access services such as email and the World Wide Web. Internet access is sold by Internet service providers (ISPs) delivering connectivity at a wide range of data transfer rates via various networking technologies. Many organizations, including a growing number of municipal entities, also provide cost-free wireless access and landlines. Availability of Internet access was once limited, but has grown rapidly. In 1995, only percent of the world's population had access, with well over half of those living in the United States, and consumer use was through dial-up. By the first decade of the 21st century, many consumers in developed nations used faster broadband technology, and by 2014, 41 percent of the world's population had access, broadband was almost ubiquitous worldwide, and global average connection speeds exceeded one me ...

Speedtest
} Speedtest.net, also known as Speedtest by Ookla, is a web service that provides free analysis of Internet access performance metrics, such as connection data rate and latency. It is the flagship product of Ookla, a web testing and network diagnostics company founded in 2006, and based in Seattle, Washington, United States. The service measures the data throughput (''speed'') and latency (''connection delay'') of an Internet connection against one of around 11,000 geographically dispersed servers (as of August 2021). Each test measures the data rate for the download direction, i.e. from the server to the user computer, and the upload data rate, i.e. from the user's computer to the server. The tests are performed within the user's web browser or within apps. , over 21 billion speed tests have been completed. Tests were previously performed using the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) at Layer 7 of the OSI model. To further improve accuracy, Speedtest.net now performs tests v ...

Mbit/s
In telecommunications, data-transfer rate is the average number of bits (bitrate), characters or symbols (baudrate), or data blocks per unit time passing through a communication link in a data-transmission system. Common data rate units are multiples of bits per second (bit/s) and bytes per second (B/s). For example, the data rates of modern residential high-speed Internet connections are commonly expressed in megabits per second (Mbit/s). Standards for unit symbols and prefixes Unit symbol The ISQ symbols for the bit and byte are ''bit'' and ''B'', respectively. In the context of data-rate units, one byte consists of 8 bits, and is synonymous with the unit octet. The abbreviation bps is often used to mean bit/s, so that when a ''1 Mbps'' connection is advertised, it usually means that the maximum achievable bandwidth is 1 Mbit/s (one million bits per second), which is 0.125 MB/s (megabyte per second), or about 0.1192 MiB/s (mebibyte per second). The Insti ...

Opensignal
Opensignal is an independent analytics company specialising in "quantifying the mobile-network experience". In August 2014, Opensignal raised a $4 million Series A investment from Qualcomm Ventures, OATV and Passion Capital. Products and services The OpenSignal application points the user in the direction of better phone signal, measures signal strength, data speed and reliability, and displays nearby Wi-Fi networks. Users of the app share information with Opensignal, which is used in their independent maps of carrier coverage and NetworkRank service. As of July 2021 the app has been downloaded over 10 million times. Opensignal NetworkRank is an in-app service comparing the performance of different cellular carriers in particular regions. The service is a part of their carrier maps, which are colour-coded to show areas of strong and weak cell phone signal. The information used is provided by users of the Opensignal application. The company produce regular industry and consum ...

List Of Countries By Number Of Internet Users
Below is a sortable list of countries by number of Internet users, for 2020. Internet users are defined as persons who accessed the Internet in the last 12 months from any device, including mobile phones. The statistics for numbers of Internet users were obtained by multiplying an estimated percentage of people using the Internet in a given country, obtained from one source (usually the ITU), by the total population from another source (usually the U.S. Census Bureau). There are not enough significant figures in the percentage estimate for the precise Internet user counts found in the table to be meaningful. As a result, they should not be treated as precise figures or even reliable estimates. Percentage is the percentage of a country's population that are Internet users. Estimates are derived either from household surveys or from Internet subscription data. All United Nations member states are included, except North Korea, whose number of internet users is estimated at a few th ...

Government Broadband Index
The Government Broadband Index (gBBi) is a report compiled by the Economist Intelligence Unit that assesses countries on the basis of government planning, as opposed to current broadband capability. With ambitious targets for both the speed and coverage of next-generation broadband networks, the developed countries of East Asia scored highest in the Economist Intelligence Unit's first government broadband index. According to the index Greece is the worst-performing country measured, owing to its relatively low coverage target and drawn-out deployment schedule. Greece also suffers due to the considerable size of its public-funding commitment as a percentage of overall government budget revenues, and because its plan does little to foment competition in the high-speed broadband market. Australia, with the most ambitious targets in the world for both speed and coverage, ranks in the bottom half of the index, because its National Broadband Network (NBN) program is partially funded by ...

Internet By Country
Global Internet Usage is the number of people who use the Internet worldwide. Internet users In 2015, the International Telecommunication Union estimated about 3.2 billion people, or almost half of the world's population, would be online by the end of the year. Of them, about 2 billion would be from developing countries, including 89 million from least developed countries. According to Hootsuite, the number of Global Internet users has already reached almost 5 billion, or about 53% of the global population as of 2021. The flat world of information has been created thanks to the Internet and globalization. This phenomenon allows individuals to have access to various cultural and ideological beliefs without having to go to other countries, resulting in immobile acculturation. Broadband usage Internet hosts The Internet Systems Consortium provides account for the number of the worldwide number of IPv4 hosts (see below). On 2019 this internet domain survey was ...
