Academic Conferences
An academic conference or scientific conference (also congress, symposium, workshop, or meeting) is an event for researchers (not necessarily academics) to present and discuss their scholarly work. Together with academic or scientific journals and Preprint archives such as arXiv, conferences provide an important channel for exchange of information between researchers. Further benefits of participating in academic conferences include learning effects in terms of presentation skills and “academic habitus”, receiving feedback from peers for one’s own research, the possibility to engage in informal communication with peers about work opportunities and collaborations, and getting an overview of current research in one or more disciplines. Overview Conferences usually encompass various presentations. They tend to be short and concise, with a time span of about 10 to 30 minutes; presentations are usually followed by a . The work may be bundled in written form as academic ...

Design Automation Conference
The Design Automation Conference, or DAC, is an annual event, a combination of a technical conference and a trade show, both specializing in electronic design automation (EDA). DAC is the oldest and largest conference in EDA, started in 1964. It grew out of the SHARE ("Society to Help Avoid Redundant Effort") design automation workshop. Its originators Marie Pistilli and Pasquale (Pat) Pistilli were honored by the EDA community. Pat received the highest honor in EDA industry, the Phil Kaufman Award, for this effort and Marie was honored by having an award established in her name, the Marie Pistilli Award. Up until the mid-'70s, DAC had sessions on all types of design automation, including mechanical and architectural. After that, for all intents and purposes, only topics concerned with electronic design have been included. Also until the mid-'70s, DAC was strictly a technical conference. Then a few companies started to request space to show their products, and within a few ye ...

Conference On Information And Knowledge Management
The ACM Conference on Information and Knowledge Management (CIKM, pronounced ) is an annual computer science research conference dedicated to information management (IM) and knowledge management (KM). Since the first event in 1992, the conference has evolved into one of the major forums for research on database management, information retrieval, and knowledge management. The conference is noted for its interdisciplinarity, as it brings together communities that otherwise often publish at separate venues. Recent editions have attracted well beyond 500 participants. In addition to the main research program, the conference also features a number of workshops, tutorials, and industry presentations. For many years, the conference was held in the USA. Since 2005, venues in other countries have been selected as well. Locations include: * 1992: Baltimore, Maryland, USA * 1993: Washington, D.C., USA * 1994: Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA * 1995: Baltimore, Maryland, USA, * 1996: Rockvil ...

Conference On Innovative Data Systems Research
The Conference on Innovative Data Systems Research (CIDR) is an annual computer science conference focused on research into new techniques for data management. It was started in 2002 by Michael Stonebraker, Jim Gray, and David DeWitt as a biennial conference to be held at the Asilomar Conference Grounds in Pacific Grove, California. In 2020, it was transformed into an annual conference with alternating location between Amsterdam and the USA. CIDR focuses on presenting work that is more speculative, radical, or provocative than what is typically accepted by the traditional database research conferences (such as the International Conference on Very Large Data Bases (VLDB) and the ACM SIGMOD Conference). See also * International Conference on Very Large Data Bases (VLDB) * ACM SIGMOD Conference SIGMOD is the Association for Computing Machinery's Special Interest Group on Management of Data, which specializes in large-scale data management problems and databases.
