The Collingwood Football Club, nicknamed the Magpies or colloquially the Pies, is a professional Australian rules football club based in Melbourne that competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), the sport's elite competition. Lou Richards
Lewis Thomas Charles "Lou" Richards, (15 March 1923 – 8 May 2017) was an Australian rules footballer who played 250 games for the Collingwood Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL) between 1941 and 1955. He captained the team from 1952 to 1955, including a premiership win in 1953. He later became a hotel manager and a highly prominent sports journalist in print, radio and television for more than 50 years, and he was known for his wit and vivacity. David Norman (Australian Footballer)
David Norman (born 1 April 1942) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Collingwood in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1960s. Norman starred for North Ballarat in the 1960 BFL season and won the league's "Best and Fairest" award, known as the Henderson Medal. The following season he joined Collingwood where he would spend six seasons as a rover and small forward. Known for his strength and courage, Norman appeared as a half forward flanker in the 1964 VFL Grand Final but ended up on the losing team. He kicked a career high 40 goals that year, bettering his 36-goal effort in 1962. Neither were enough to top Collingwood's goal-kicking but he earned that accolade in 1965 when he booted 32 goals. Terry Waters
Terry Waters (14 December 1943 – 27 July 2020) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Collingwood in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Originally from Victorian Football Association (VFA) club Dandenong, Waters' transfer application to Collingwood was originally denied by Dandenong and he was required to go to the Supreme Court of Victoria to have writs issued to allow him to make his VFL debut in 1963. Waters was a versatile player who was originally used as a ruck/forward before moving into defence later in his career. He was known as a reliable mark of the ball in dry or wet conditions. Murray Weideman (16 February 1936 – 17 February 2021) was an Australian rules footballer in the Australian Football League, Victorian Football League (VFL). He died one day after his 85th birthday. Personal life The son of George Oliver and Hazel Howard Weideman (née Start), and the younger brother of pharmacist/parliamentarian Graeme Weideman, George "Graeme" Weideman, he was born on 16 February 1936. Ian Brewer
Ian Davidson Brewer (15 June 1936 – 15 April 2010) was an Australian rules footballer with a distinguished career between 1956 and 1970, in the three major leagues of his era: the Victorian Football League (VFL), West Australian National Football League (WANFL) and South Australian National Football League (SANFL). Brewer played a combined total of 171 senior games for Collingwood, Claremont and Norwood. A key forward from Sale, Brewer played with Collingwood from 1956 to 1961. Ken Smale (born 5 November 1933) is a former Australian rules footballer, who played in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Born in Warrnacknabeal Smale played as a forward for the town team and he won the Wimmera Football League goalkicking award in 1952 and 1953. Keen to have a go in the VFL he wrote to Collingwood asking for a try out. He spent the Easter Saturday in Melbourne with a six-game permit in case he was wanted. Keith Bromage (born 8 November 1937) is a former Australian rules footballer. He played with Collingwood and Fitzroy in his Victorian Football League (VFL) career. Bob Rose (footballer)
Robert Arthur "Bob" Rose (7 August 1928 – 7 July 2003) was an Australian rules footballer and coach in the VFL. He is widely regarded as the greatest player ever to play for Collingwood. Playing career A Collingwood legend, he has had achievements of the many including the greatest honours for a club, and in the VFL/AFL. From country club Nyah West, Rose debuted in 1946. He was a genuine all-round sportsman, who was looking down the path of a professional boxing career, but decided to play the game of football.
