Campus radio (also known as college radio, university radio or student radio) is a type of radio station that is run by the students of a college, university or other educational institution. Programming may be exclusively created or produced by students, or may include program contributions from the local community in which the radio station is based. Sometimes campus radio stations are operated for the purpose of training professional radio personnel, sometimes with the aim of broadcasting educational programming, while other radio stations exist to provide alternative to commercial broadcasting or government broadcasters. SURG
SURG, previously styled as SURG FM, is the campus radio station of the University of Sydney. The station is run entirely by students as an initiative of the University of Sydney Union, and broadcasts online through the iHeartRadio platform. SURG stands for the 'Sydney University Radio Group'. SURG showcases a diverse array of music and shows, allowing students to create their own programming. SURG's studio are located in the Holme Building on Science Road. Notably broadcasters have interviewed the likes of André Aciman, Matt Okine & Nick Lutsko. 2SER is a community radio station in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, broadcasting on the frequency 107.3 FM and is a member of the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia. The station is largely self-supporting, relying upon revenue raised through programming, sponsorship, fund-raising events and membership. Their studios are located in Ultimo and Macquarie, Sydney. The station has a metro-wide licence and broadcasts a mix of programming styles - specialist music, general magazine and specialist talks.
