Susan Addison
Susan "Sue" Addison (born 1955) is an English performer and professor of the sackbut, tenor trombone, and other early trombones. She specializes in playing historical music using authentic instruments of the age. She was a founding member and performed as the principle trombone player for the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. She was also a founding member of His Majestys Sagbutts and Cornetts, and played with them for 25 years. Biography Susan Addison was born in 1955 in Louth, Lincolnshire and attended Monksdyke High School. She has said she was fifteen when she started learning the trombone, and only chose that instrument as that was the only one available to play at her school. She is a performer of the sackbut, tenor trombone, and other early trombones, and is a specialist in using authentic instruments of the age to play historical music. Byron Fulcher
Byron Fulcher (born 1970) is a British musician who is the principal trombone with the Philharmonia Orchestra and the London Sinfonietta. In addition, he is professor of trombone at the Royal College of Music. Early life and education Byron was born and raised in Cornwall, started playing trombone at the age of nine and studied with Denis Wick. From 1988 and 1992, he studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama under Eric Crees. Career In 1989, Fulcher performed the British premiere of Ranki's ''Tales of Father Goose'' and has since performed the Gordon Jacob and Launy Grondahl trombone concerti in London and the Ferdinand David ''Concertino'' in Peru with the Lima Symphony Orchestra. James Olin
James Randolph Olin (February 28, 1920 – July 29, 2006) was an American politician from the U.S. state of Virginia. From 1983 to 1993, Olin, a Democrat, served in the United States House of Representatives for Virginia's 6th congressional district. Early life and education Olin was born in Chicago, Illinois, the grandson of Swedish immigrants, and raised in Kenilworth, Illinois. He attended Deep Springs College, before moving on to Cornell University, from which he earned an electrical engineering degree in 1943. Robert Marsteller
Robert Loren Marsteller (1918–1975) was a prominent US symphonic trombonist and music educator. He was a graduate of the Eastman School of Music, where he studied under Emory Remington. Marsteller was the first trombonist with the National Symphony Orchestra, performed in a Navy Band during World War II, and then served as principal trombonist for 25 years with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra and the Hollywood Bowl orchestra. He was a member of the faculty of the University of Southern California from 1946 until his death. Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra
The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) is an American orchestra based in the city of Rochester, New York. Its primary concert venue is the Eastman Theatre at the Eastman School of Music. Mark Kellogg (musician)
Mark Kellogg is an American musician who worked as the principal trombonist of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. He is an associate professor of classical and jazz trombone and euphonium at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. Education Kellogg holds a bachelor's degree and performer's certificate from the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester, where he studied with John Marcellus and Cherry Beauregard. Career Kellogg was a member of the San Francisco Symphony, Syracuse Symphony Orchestra, and National Repertory Orchestra. He is also a co-founder of the jazz group Rhythm & Brass. The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra (MSO) is an American symphony orchestra based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The orchestra performs primarily at the Bradley Symphony Center in Allen-Bradley Hall. Megumi Kanda
(born November 9, 1975), is a Japanese trombone performer. Early life Kanda began playing trombone at the age of 10 in Tokyo, Japan, and attended the Toho High School of Music, where she won first prize in a Japanese national competition. After high school, she moved to the United States and earned a Bachelor of Music from the Cleveland Institute of Music where she studied with James DeSano, principal trombone of the Cleveland Orchestra. She was first hired as a professional trombonist by the Albany Symphony Orchestra in 1997, and then worked for the Rochester Philharmonic.
