Vrazhdebna Air Base
Vrazhdebna Air Base ( bg, Авиобаза Враждебна, Aviobaza Vraždebna) or 16th Transport Air Base is a military air base, located on the site of Sofia Airport. The air base functions as a hub for the 16th Transport Squadron of the BAF. History "Vrazhdebna" is the original name for Sofia Airport, used since its establishment in 1937. The name is derived from the nearby village of Vrazhdebna (now a suburb of Sofia) and is literally translated as ''hostile''. Although various military transportation units, have been based at the airport since the late 1940s, it was not until 1994 when a separate military unit (16th Transport Air Base) was established. Both Sofia Airport and 16th TAB carry the official name "Vrazhdebna". Sliven ( bg, Сливен ) is the eighth-largest city in Bulgaria and the administrative and industrial centre of Sliven Province and municipality in Northern Thrace. Novo Selo Range
The Novo Selo Training Area is a major Bulgarian military training facility established in 1962, presently used by other NATO nations as well. The range has a surface area of 144 km2 (55.6 sq. mi), and is situated 45 km (28 mi) from Bezmer Air Base, and 70 km (43.5 mi) from the port of Burgas in Sliven Province, Bulgaria. The facility has its designated areas and sectors for tank shooting, and nuclear, biological, and chemical defense and reconnaissance training. The Novo Selo Training Area is highly appreciated by NATO experts and troops, and has become the favored site of annual joint US and Bulgarian troops exercises since 2004. Chayka Naval Air Base
Chayka Naval Air Base ( bg, Морска авиобаза "Чайка") is a Bulgarian Navy base. It may be spelled 'Tchaika' and is sometimes known as Varna-Chaika. Chaika means seagull in Bulgarian. It is located on the southern edge of a river estuary south of the city of Varna on the Black Sea coast. History A seaplane base at Peinerdzhika (or Peynerdjik) was established by the Imperial German Navy Air Service and opened in early spring 1916 during World War I.
