Metro Line M1 (Budapest Metro)
Line 1 (Officially: Millennium Underground Railway, Metro 1 or M1) is the oldest line of the Budapest Metro, it was built from 1894 to 1896. It is known locally as "the small underground" (''"a kisföldalatti"''), while the M2, M3 and M4 are called "metró". It is the first underground on the European mainland, and the world's third oldest underground after the London Underground and Liverpool's Mersey Railway. Line 1 runs northeast from the city center on the Pest side under Andrássy út to the '' Városliget'', or City Park. Like Line 3, it does not serve Buda. Its daily ridership is estimated at 80,000. Deák Ferenc Tér Metro Station
Deák Ferenc tér is a transfer station on the M1, M2, and M3 lines of the Budapest Metro. It is located under the eponymous city square in central Budapest, the capital city of Hungary. Owing to its direct transfer connection between three out of the four metro lines Budapest has and its downtown location, it is one of the busiest stations in the system. Váci Street
Váci utca (Váci street) is one of the main pedestrian thoroughfares and perhaps the most famous street of central Budapest, Hungary. It features many restaurants and shops catering primarily to the tourist market. The Lonely Planet says "It's tourist central, but the line of cafés and shops are worth seeing — at least once."Lonely Planet guide to Central Europe, 6th Edition. p.299. Váci utca is one of the main shopping streets in Budapest. Among the retailers located here are: Zara, H&M, Mango, ESPRIT, Douglas AG, Swarovski, Hugo Boss, Lacoste and Nike. The street opens to Vörösmarty Square. The street is known for clip joints. Some of these pretend to be strip clubs, but others present themselves as ordinary bars. Typically a female couple ask for directions to a bar and one of them will say it's her birthday. Café Gerbeaud
Café Gerbeaud, situated at Vörösmarty tér 7 in Budapest, the capital of Hungary, is a traditional coffeehouse opened in 1858. It was built in Gründerzeit style. In 2009 Café Gerbeaud opened its second confectionery in Tokyo, Japan. History The company was started in 1858 by Henrik Kugler, the third child of a confectionery dynasty. He acquired his knowledge and experience mostly during his journeymanship in eleven European capitals including Paris. After that he opened a confectionery at József nádor Square which was soon accounted as one of the best in Pest. Among the specialities were Chinese and Russian teas as well as his ice creations which were soon named "the best ice in Pest". A side platform (also known as a marginal platform or a single-face platform) is a platform positioned to the side of one or more railway tracks or guideways at a railway station, tram stop, or transitway. A station having dual side platforms, one for each direction of travel, is the basic design used for double-track railway lines (as opposed to, for instance, the island platform where a single platform lies between the tracks). Side platforms may result in a wider overall footprint for the station compared with an island platform where a single width of platform can be shared by riders using either track.
