Graham Cutts
John Henry Graham Cutts (1884 – 7 February 1958), known as Graham Cutts, was a British film director, one of the leading British directors in the 1920s. His fellow director A. V. Bramble believed that Gainsborough Pictures had been built on the back of his work. His daughter was actress Patricia Cutts (1926–1974). Cutts worked with many leading figures in the UK film and stage world, including Basil Dean, Alfred Hitchcock, Gracie Fields, Ivor Novello, and Noël Coward. Jack Hawkins
John Edward Hawkins, CBE (14 September 1910 – 18 July 1973) was an English actor who worked on stage and in film from the 1930s until the 1970s. One of the most popular British film stars of the 1950s, he was known for his portrayal of military men. Career Hawkins was born at 45 Lyndhurst Road, Wood Green, in what is now Haringey, London, the son of a builder. He was educated at Wood Green's Trinity County Grammar School, where, aged eight, he joined the school choir. By the age of ten Hawkins had joined the local operatic society, and made his stage debut in Patience by Gilbert and Sullivan. His parents enrolled him in the Italia Conti Academy and whilst he was studying there he made his London stage debut, when aged thirteen, playing the Elf King in ''Where the Rainbow Ends'' at the Holborn Empire on Boxing Day, December 1923, a production that also included the young Noël Coward. Judy Gunn
Judy Gunn, born Joan Winfindale (10 February 1915 – 19 April 1991) was a British stage and film actress. When she was thirteen, she played a leading role in a local dramatic performance and the following year she went to RADA to study, where she was the youngest pupil. After two years there she was engaged for provincial repertory work and commenced her career with touring companies before starting on the London stage. In 1933 she starred alongside Bobby Howes in the West End theatre, West End musical ''He Wanted Adventure''. Gordon Harker
William Gordon Harker (7 August 1885 – 2 March 1967) was an English stage and film actor. Harker was one of the sons of Sarah Elizabeth Harker, née Hall, (1856–1927), and Joseph Harker (1855–1927), a much admired set painter for the theatre for whom the ''Dracula'' character Jonathan Harker was named. Harker had a long career on the stage, from 1902 to the 1950s. In addition, he appeared in 68 films between 1921 and 1959, including three silent films directed by Alfred Hitchcock and in several scenes in ''Elstree Calling'' (1930), a revue film co-directed by Hitchcock. He was known for his performance as Inspector Hornleigh in a trilogy of films produced between 1938 and 1940, as well in ''Saloon Bar'' (1940), based on a stage play he had starred in and another one of his stage successes The Poltergeist made into the film ''Things Happen at Night'' (1947), a poltergeist comedy he co-starred in with Alfred Drayton and Robertson Hare. Henry Edwards (actor)
Henry Edwards (18 September 1882 – 2 November 1952) was an English actor and film director. He appeared in more than 80 films between 1915 and 1952. He also directed 67 films between 1915 and 1937. Edwards married actress Chrissie White in 1924. She appeared in many of his films as did the couple's daughter, Henryetta Edwards. He was born in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset and died in Chobham, Surrey. Phyllis Edith Mary Blythe (13 February 1912 – 31 October 2001), known professionally as Jenny Laird, was a British stage, film and television actress. Early life and education Born in Manchester, Laird and her parents moved to the south, and she was educated at Maidstone grammar school and London University. She worked briefly as an advertising copywriter while studying acting with teachers such as the Central School's legendary Elsie Fogerty and in 1937 she made her repertory debut at the Brixton Theatre in '' A Bill of Divorcement''. Theatre Laird worked with director Alec Clunes at the Arts Theatre Club during its heyday in the 1940s and 1950s.
