Henry Edwards (actor)
Henry Edwards (18 September 1882 – 2 November 1952) was an English actor and film director. He appeared in more than 80 films between 1915 and 1952. He also directed 67 films between 1915 and 1937. Edwards married actress Chrissie White in 1924. She appeared in many of his films as did the couple's daughter, Henryetta Edwards. He was born in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset and died in Chobham, Surrey. Mary Glynne
Mary Glynne (born Mary Aitken; 25 January 1895 – 19 September 1954) was a British actress. Biography Glynne was born Mary Aitken in Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales. She started her career in 1908, in a stage play called ''The Dairymaids'' at the Princes Theatre in Manchester. A month later, she appeared on stage at the Queen's Theatre, London, in the same play. She appeared in numerous stage productions from 1908 to 1954 and in 24 films between 1919 and 1939. Following her appearance in many West End successes, she toured the provinces and, later, South Africa. She was married to Dennis Neilson-Terry, who died in Rhodesia in 1932. Glynne died in London on 19 September 1954. Donald Crisp
Donald William Crisp (27 July 188225 May 1974) was an English film actor as well as an early producer, director and screenwriter. His career lasted from the early silent film era into the 1960s. He won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1942 for his performance in ''How Green Was My Valley''. Early life Donald Crisp was born George William Crisp in Bow, London, in a family home on 27 July 1882. He was the youngest of ten children (four boys and six girls) born to Elizabeth (née Christy) and James Crisp, a labourer. He was educated locally and in 1901 was living with his parents and working as a driver of a horse-drawn vehicle. Crisp made a number of claims about his early life that were eventually proven false decades after his death. He claimed that he was born in 1880 in Aberfeldy in Perthshire, Scotland, and even went so far as to maintain a Scottish accent throughout his life in Hollywood. Plot As described in a film magazine, dour Scottish shepherd Lachlan Campbell (Crisp) is exceedingly harsh with his daughter Flora (Glynne). Flora and Lord Malcolm Hay (Fraser), the son of the Earl of Kinspindle (Robertshaw), marry secretly according to Scottish custom, and parental objection leads to misunderstandings followed by separation and misery. A logical resolution leads to a satisfactory ending. Julian Royce (26 March 1866 – 10 May 1946), born William Leonard Gardener, was a British stage and, later, film actor. In 1889 he married an actress, Elizabeth Mary Day ("Nora Day"). The two toured together in 1891, by which time he had adopted the stage name Julian Royce. They appeared together in 1897 in ''The New Magdalen'', and in 1898 they appeared in ''Sporting Life'', by Seymour Hicks and Cecil Raleigh, at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London, with Royce as the evil Malet de Carteret. Guy Newall (25 May 1885 – 25 February 1937) was a British actor, screenwriter and film director. He was born on the Isle of Wight on 25 May 1885. He began his film career by acting in the 1915 film '' The Heart of Sister Ann''. In 1920 he directed his first film, and went on to direct a further ten including '' The Chinese Puzzle'' before his death in 1937. He established a production company with George Clark whom he had met during the First World War, and they raised finance to construct a new studios at Beaconsfield Studios. Newall was married twice, to actresses Ivy Duke and Dorothy Batley. Plot As described in a film magazine, Pamela (Duke) and Herbert Arnott (Royce) have been happily married for five years and have had two children. On the day of their wedding anniversary, Pamela receives a letter from another woman signed Lucy Arnott which states that she is the legal wife of Herbert. Herbert confirms that this is the truth and explains that Lucy refused to give him a divorce. For the sake of their children, Pamela continues to live with Herbert, but their governess Blanche (Everest) later overhears a conversation between them and learns the truth regarding the status of the marriage.
