The British 5,000 metres walk athletics champions covers three competitions; the current British Athletics Championships which was founded in 2007, the preceding AAA Championships (1975-2006) and the UK Athletics Championships which existed from 1977 until 1997 and ran concurrently with the AAA Championships. Where an international athlete won the AAA Championships the highest ranking UK athlete is considered the National Champion in this list. British Athletics Championships
The British Athletics Championships is the premier national championship in track and field held in the United Kingdom, and are organised by British Athletics. The event has doubled as the main trials meet for international team selection for major events in which Great Britain and Northern Ireland compete, including the Olympic Games, the IAAF World Championships in Athletics and the European Athletics Championships. Only British athletes may formally compete, though in some circumstances British club-affiliated foreign athletes may take part as guests. The event was established in 2007, replacing the AAA Championships as the principal event on the domestic sport of athletics, athletics calendar in the United Kingdom. Gemma Bridge (born 17 May 1993) is an English athlete specialising in the racewalking events. Biography Born in Oxford, she studied biology at the University of Birmingham and ran cross country for the varsity team. Gemma completed her master's degree in the United States at McNeese State University where she also ran for the university. Gemma was recently awarded her doctorate from Leeds Beckett University. Gemma now works as a Research Evidence Impact Officer at Leeds Beckett University. Alongside this role, Gemma works as a marketing associate for HIIT Science, is the Leeds Area Activator for Good Gym and is a volunteer writer for Leeds Living, Leeds College of Technology and Yorkshire Art. 2020 British Athletics Championships
The 2020 British Athletics Championships (known for sponsorship reasons as the Müller British Athletics Championships) was the national championship in outdoor track and field for athletes in the United Kingdom. The championship took place on 4–5 September 2020, having been postponed from June 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Background The championship was originally scheduled for 20–21 June 2020, but in April 2020 it was postponed until 8–9 August due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In June 2020, the event was postponed again, to 4–5 September 2020. Callum Wilkinson (born 14 March 1997) is a British race walker. As of 2017, he was ranked 2nd overall in the UK for 20 Km walk. He represented his country in the 20 km walk at the 2017 World Championships finishing in 41st position. He won a gold medal in the 10,000 m walk at the IAAF World U20 Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland. At the 2019 European Athletics U23 Championships in Gävle, Sweden. He won a bronze medal in the 20 kilometres walk. Hannah Lewis (born 29 January 1984) is an Australian basketball player. She has joined a Women's National Basketball League (WNBL) team for the 2005/2006 season when she played for the Perth Lynx. She has subsequently played for the Canberra Capitals in the same league. She has also played for the Canberra Nationals in the Waratah Basketball League. Personal Lewis She is tall. Bethan Davies (born 7 November 1990) is a British racewalker who competes in the 20 kilometres walk event. She was the bronze medallist at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and has represented her country at the World Championships in Athletics and IAAF World Race Walking Team Championships. She holds the indoor British record in the 3000 metres walk (12:44.99 minutes) and the Commonwealth record for the indoor 5000 metres walk (21:25.37 minutes). Daniel King (born 30 May 1983) is a British racewalker. He competed for England in the men's 20 km walk at the 2006 Commonwealth Games and at a number of World Cup events for Great Britain. He has a twin brother named Dominic who is also a racewalker. Career Daniel attended Coventry University. He was British number one when he was called up to the squad to compete at the 2004 IAAF World Race Walking Cup in Naumburg, Germany.
