Baltimore City Public Schools (BCPS), also referred to as Baltimore City Public School System (BCPSS) or City Schools, is a public school district in the city of Baltimore, state of Maryland, United States. It serves the youth of Baltimore City (in distinction to the separate and "younger" public school system (district) for the surrounding separate county of Baltimore, known as the Baltimore County Public Schools CoPS. Traditionally however, the Baltimore City Public Schools system has usually never referred to itself as a "district," as the operation of the schools was synonymous with the city of Baltimore. Federal Hill, Baltimore
Federal Hill is a neighborhood in Baltimore, Maryland, United States that lies just to the south of the city's central business district. Many of the structures are included in the Federal Hill Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970. Other structures are included in the Federal Hill South Historic District, listed in 2003. Location The neighborhood is named for the prominent hill that is easily viewed from the Inner Harbor area, to which the neighborhood forms the physical south boundary. The hillside is a lush green and serves as a community park. The neighborhood occupies the northwestern part of a peninsula that extends along two branches of the Patapsco River—the Northwest Branch (ending at the Inner Harbor) and the Middle Branch. Johnston Square, Baltimore
Johnston Square is a neighborhood in central Baltimore, Maryland located east of the Fallsway and west of the Oliver neighborhood, bordered by Greenmount Cemetery at the north and Eager Street at the south. The neighborhood is erroneously listed by a number of real estate websites as "Johnson Square." The sites also erroneously list the Western border of the neighborhood as Hunter Street. The area bordered by Hunter Street to the West and I-83 to the East is actually more closely associated with the Mt. Vernon and Belvedere neighborhoods, two areas with some of the city's highest incomes and lowest crime rates. The neighborhood contains Johnston Square Elementary School and two parks, Johnston Square Park and Ambrose Kennedy Park. Bridgeview/Greenlawn is a neighborhood in the western part of Baltimore, Maryland. Its boundaries are the north side of West Lafayette Street, the east side of Braddish Avenue, the west side of North Monroe Street, and the south side of Presstman Street. Hanlon Longwood is a neighborhood in the Northwest District of Baltimore, located between the neighborhoods of Garwyn Oaks (west) and Burleigh–Leighton (east). It is bounded by North Dukeland Street (east), Garrison Boulevard (west) and the Gwynns Falls Parkway (south). Sandtown-Winchester, Baltimore
Sandtown-Winchester is a neighborhood in West Baltimore, Maryland. Known locally as Sandtown, the community's name was derived from the trails of sand that dropped from wagons leaving town after filling up at the local sand and gravel quarry back in the days of horse-drawn wagons. It is located north of Lafayette Street, west of Fremont Avenue, south of North Avenue, and east of Monroe Street, covering an area of 72 square blocks, patrolled by the Baltimore Police Department's Western District.
