Avalon Hill Games Inc. is a game company that publishes wargames and strategic board games. It has also published miniature wargaming rules, role-playing games and sports simulations. ''Air Force'' is a board wargame published by Battleline Publications in 1976, and subsequently re-released by Avalon Hill in 1977, that simulates air combat during World War II. Several expansions for the game were also published. Description ''Air Force'' is a complex multi-player wargame that allows players to simulate air combat over Europe during World War II. Thirty airplanes from the Luftwaffe, RAF and USAAF are included. Each airplane has a corresponding card with numerical data that tracks maneuverability, speed, armaments, ammunition, damage, altitude and attitude. Baseball Strategy (game)
Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams of nine players each, taking turns batting and fielding. The game occurs over the course of several plays, with each play generally beginning when a player on the fielding team, called the pitcher, throws a ball that a player on the batting team, called the batter, tries to hit with a bat. The objective of the offensive team (batting team) is to hit the ball into the field of play, away from the other team's players, allowing its players to run the bases, having them advance counter-clockwise around four bases to score what are called " runs". The objective of the defensive team (referred to as the fielding team) is to prevent batters from becoming runners, and to prevent runners' advance around the bases. ''Up Front'' is a World War II card-based wargame. It was designed by Courtney F. Allen and published by Avalon Hill in 1983. Hasbro now owns the franchise, and at one time licensed it to Multi-Man Publishing, a license that has since expired without republication of the game. There was an attempt to reprint ''Up Front'' through Kickstarter in 2013. The project raised over $300,000, but no updates to status has been posted since March 21, 2014. In 2016 Hasbro licensed Wargame Vault to sell ''Up Front'' as a print on demand product; and the game is now available through on-line ordering. The official rules are currently available to order either as a printed book or as a portable document format electronic file. ''B-17, Queen of the Skies'' is a solitaire board wargame published by On Target Games in 1981 that simulates flight missions in a Boeing B-17F Flying Fortress bomber during World War II. The game was acquired by Avalon Hill and republished in 1983. Background In late 1942 and early 1943, before the advent of long-range fighter escorts such as the P-51 Mustang, B-17 bombers of the Eighth Air Force had to defend themselves from fierce German fighter attacks as they undertook long missions over northern Europe. ''Atlantic Storm'' was a ministerial exercise simulating the top-level response to a bioterror incident. The simulation operated on January 14, 2005 in Washington, D.C. It was created in part to reveal the current international state of preparedness and possible political and public health issues that might evolve from such a crisis. ''EuroHit'' is a card game designed by Chris Baylis that was published by FCB & Associates in 1992. It was republished as ''Assassin'' by Avalon Hill in 1994. Gameplay The game has the following components: * a 54-card Destination deck * a 181-card deck (23 special cards, 13 hazards, 93 kilometre distance cards, 52 transport cards) * 6 player tokens * a map The players act as Contract killing, hit men who are also tour guides for important dignitaries. As the tour guides travel across Europe, players either use or secretly pass the Hitman card to other players. Players score points by avoiding the Hit Man player when not the Hit Man, and by hitting other players' tourists while holding the Hit Man card. There are four "machine gun" cards in the deck that must be placed faceup on the table as soon as they are drawn.
