Sat Gambuj Mosque
The Sat Gambuj Mosque () is near the northwestern outskirts of Dhaka in the Mohammadpur area. It is a fine example of the provincial Mughal style of architecture introduced in Bangladesh in the 17th century. The mosque's most notable features are its seven bulbous domes crowning the roof and covering the main prayer hall. Probably erected by Governor Shaista Khan, the monument stands in a romantic setting on a buttressed 15-foot-high bank overlooking an extensive flood plain. History A few kilometers to the north of Peelkhana, for long the end of Mughal Dhaka, was the Jafarbad or Katasur area, originally part of mouza Sarai Begumpur. Many of the mouzas (or revenue circles) were delineated during the reign of Shershah and later by Kartalab Khan. Wari-Bateshwar Ruins
The Wari-Bateshwar (Bengali: উয়ারী-বটেশ্বর,''Uari-Bôṭeshshor'') ruins in Narsingdi, Dhaka Division, Bangladesh is one of the earliest urban archaeological sites in Bangladesh. Excavation in the site unearthed a fortified urban center, paved roads and suburban dwelling. The site was primarily occupied during the iron age, from 400 to 100 BCE, as evidenced by the abundance of punch-marked coins and Northern Black Polished Ware (NBPW) artifacts. The site also reveals signs of pit dwelling, a feature typically found in chalcolithic archaeological sites in the Indian sub-continent. Geography The site sprawls across Wari and Bateshwar, two adjacent villages in the Belabo Upazila of Narsingdi district, about 17 km North-west of the confluence of the rivers Old Brahmaputra and Meghna at the lower end of Sylhet basin. Bagha Mosque
Bagha Mosque ( bn, বাঘা মসজিদ) is a mosque located at Bagha, southeast of Rajshahi in Bangladesh. History The mosque was built in 1523-1524 (930 AH) by Sultan Nusrat Shah, son of Alauddin Shah, the founder of the Husain Shahi dynasty. Later, the mosque was renovated at different times and when the domes of the mosque collapsed, the destroyed mosque was rebuilt in 1897. Architectural features The mosque is located on 256 bighas of land. The courtyard of the mosque has been made 8–10 feet high from the plain ground. The pillars and carvings on the north side of the gate have been tormented. The mosque has 6 pillars inside. The mosque has 4 arches which are inlaid with great artwork. Barishal Collectorate Bhaban or Barisal Collectorate Bhaban is British colonial administrative building located in Sadar Upazila of Barisal District in Bangladesh. It is now classified as a protected site of the Department of Archaeology. Bibi Chini Mosque
Bibi Chini Mosque ( bn, বিবি চিনি মসজিদ) is an ancient mosque and archaeological site located in Barguna District of Bangladesh. It is located in the Bibi Chini village under Betagi Upazila. This Mughal architecture style mosque was built by an Islamic preacher named Shah Neyamat Ullah. The mosque has three access points. It is 33 feet tall, 33 feet wide and the walls of the mosque are about 6 feet wide. Shah Neyamat Ullah came to this region with some disciples in 1659 when Shah Shuja was the governor of Bengal and Odisha. Shuja requested him to build this mosque. The village was named after Chini Bibi, daughter of Shah Neyamat Ullah. Since the mosque is located in the village, later it also became known as Bibi Chini Mosque. Ullah died in 1700. Miah Bari Mosque
The Karapur Miah Bari Mosque ( bn, কড়াপুর মিঞা বাড়ি মসজিদ, ar, ) is a three domed ancient mosque and archaeological site located in the Barisal District of Bangladesh. It is located in Miah Bari, in the village of North Karapur in Raipasha-Karapur Union, Barisal Sadar Upazila. History According to local tradition, this Mughal architecture style mosque was built by Hayat Mahmud, the zamindar of Buzurg-Umedpur Pargana, in the 18th century. Mahmud was rebellious to the British government and exiled to Penang Island (formerly Prince of Wales island) in Malaysia. His family was stripped of Umedpur's zamindarship. It was after Hayat's return to Bengal, sixteen years later, in which he built the Miah Bari Mosque taking inspiration from the Kartalab Khan Mosque in Old Dhaka. Kamalapur Mosque, also known as Masum Khan Mosque, is a square shaped three domed ancient mosque and archaeological site located in Barisal District of Bangladesh. It is located in the Kamalapur village under Gournadi Upazila. It was built in the Mughal architecture style.And it was built around 16th century. Mahilara Sarkar Math
Mahilara Sarkar Math is an ancient Hindu temple and archaeological site located in the Barisal District of Bangladesh. It was built by a local influential man named Rupram Das Gupta during the reign of Alivardi Khan in the 18th century. The Shikhara-style monument is now protected by the Department of Archaeology and classified as an 'archaeological monument'. Qasba Mosque ( bn, কসবা মসজিদ, ar, مسجد القصبة) is an early 16th-century nine-domed mosque and archaeological site located in Barisal District of Bangladesh. It is located in the Qasba village under Gournadi Upazila. It is named after the village. The mosque, which has a total of nine domes, is very similar to the Nine Dome Mosque in Bagerhat. History The village of Qasba was an important centre in the Sultanate of Bengal and was home to several influential Muslim families. Nasrat Gazi Mosque
Nasrat Ghazi Mosque ( bn, নসরত গাজীর মসজিদ, ar, مسجد نصرت غازي) is a 15th-century one-domed mosque and archaeological site located in the village of Middle Sialguni in Bakerganj Upazila, part of the Barisal District of southern Bangladesh. The mosque was built during the reign of Sultan Nasiruddin Nasrat Shah. Architecture This one-domed mosque is built on a square ground-plan which acts as an eidgah. The mosque is made of lime mortar and thin square bricks. The length-width of the interior of the mosque is a little over 4.50 meters and 14 feet, while the walls are 1.43 meters or about 5 feet thick. Ghayebi Dighi Masjid
Ghayebi Dighi Mosque, ( bn, গায়েবী দিঘী মসজিদ, ar, مسجد بركة الغائبي), was an ancient mosque located in the Barothakuri Union, Zakiganj Upazila in Sylhet District. It is an important site managed by the Department of Archaeology in Bangladesh. A 400-year-old stone inscription was discovered here and is now in display at the Bangladesh National Museum.
