The ambassador of Israel to China is the representative of the State of Israel in the People's Republic of China. Background Israel was the first country in the Middle East to recognize the PRC as the legitimate government of China. However, China did not establish normal diplomatic relations with Israel until 1992. Since then, Israel and China have developed increasingly close strategic economic, military and technological links with each other. Zvi Heifetz, born 9 December 1956, is an Israeli diplomat, a lawyer, businessman and media executive. Heifetz previously served as an Ambassador at large, Special Envoy to the Golf countries, UAE and Bahrain, Ambassador of the State of Israel to the People’s Republic of China and Mongolia, Ambassador to Russian Federation, Ambassador to Austria, UNIDO, UNDOC and OSCE and Ambassador to the United Kingdomand. Matan Vilnai ( he, מַתָּן וִילְנָאִי; born 20 May 1944) is an Israeli politician and a former major general in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). A former Knesset member and government minister, he was appointed ambassador to China in 2012. Ora Namir ( he, אורה נמיר, 1 September 1930 – 7 July 2019) was an Israeli politician and diplomat who served as a member of the Knesset from 1974 until 1996, as well as holding the posts of Minister of the Environment and Minister of Labour and Social Welfare during the 1990s.
