Chester Airport is a public use airport located three miles (5 km) southwest of the central business district of Chester, a town in Middlesex County, Connecticut, United States. It is privately owned by Whelen Aviation. It is included in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2017–2021, in which it is categorized as a general aviation facility. Although most U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, Chester Airport is assigned SNC by the FAA but has no designation from the IATA (which assigned SNC to General Ulpiano Paez Airport in Salinas, Ecuador). The FAA identifier for Chester Airport was 3B9 and was changed to SNC in the early 2000s. Goodspeed Airport
Goodspeed Airport is located in East Haddam, Connecticut, United States. It has been under new ownership with the support of the Recreational Aviation Foundation since November 2020. The new owners, Eric Zipkin and Bill McEnery, plan to revitalize the airport and bring back the vibrant aviation community that once existed there. Facilities and aircraft Goodspeed Airport is situated 1 mile southeast of the central business district, and contains two runways. The longest runway, 16/34, is water measuring 4,500 x 1,000 ft (1372 x 305 m). A second runway, 14/32, paved with asphalt, measures 2,120 x 50 ft (646 x 15 m). East Haddam, Connecticut
East Haddam is a town in Middlesex County, Connecticut. The population was 8,875 at the time of the 2020 census. History Until 1650, the area of East Haddam was inhabited by at least three Indigenous peoples: the Wangunk, the Mohegan and the Niantic. The Indigenous nations called the area "Machimoodus", the place of noises, because of numerous earthquakes that were recorded between 1638 and 1899. Loud rumblings, the "Moodus Noises", could be heard for miles surrounding the epicenter of the quakes near Mt. Tom. The land, which is now Haddam and East Haddam, was purchased by settlers from the natives in 1662 for thirty coats, worth about $100. Willimantic is a city located in the town of Windham, Connecticut, Windham in Windham County, Connecticut, United States. It is a former Census-designated place and Borough (Connecticut), borough, and is currently organized as one of two Local government in Connecticut#Special tax and service districts, tax districts within the Town of Windham. Known as "Thread City" for the American Thread Company's mills along the Willimantic River, it was a center of the textile industry in the 19th century. Waterbury–Oxford Airport
Waterbury–Oxford Airport , also known as Oxford Airport, is a public airport located three miles (5 km) north of the central business district of Oxford, a town in New Haven County, Connecticut, United States. The land on which the airport now exists was farmland until the mid-1960s. The first purchase of land by the State of Connecticut for the new airport occurred on August 22, 1966 from Adrian V. and Emeline (Miller) Lillis, who owned Trails End Farm, comprising 50 acres; the second purchase was from Michol and Agnes Ploch, containing three parcels totaling 133.75 acres. The groundbreaking ceremony for the airport was held on May 17, 1968, and the airport was officially opened with limited service on December 15, 1969. Groton–New London Airport is a state-owned public-use airport located three nautical miles (6 km) southeast of the central business district of Groton, a town in New London County, Connecticut, United States. It is included in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2017–2021, in which it is categorized as a regional general aviation facility. It serves the southeastern Connecticut region, including the shoreline localities of Groton, New London, and Mystic. New London is a seaport city and a port of entry on the northeast coast of the United States, located at the mouth of the Thames River in New London County, Connecticut.
