Silk is a natural protein fiber, some forms of which can be woven into textiles. The protein fiber of silk is composed mainly of fibroin and is produced by certain insect larvae to form cocoons. The best-known silk is obtained from the cocoons of the larvae of the mulberry silkworm ''Bombyx mori'' reared in captivity (sericulture). The shimmering appearance of silk is due to the triangular prism-like structure of the silk fibre, which allows silk cloth to refract incoming light at different angles, thus producing different colors. The first airline was the German airship company DELAG, founded on November 16, 1909. The British Aerospace 146 (also BAe 146) is a short-haul and regional airliner that was manufactured in the United Kingdom by British Aerospace, later part of BAE Systems. Production ran from 1983 until 2001. Manufacture by Avro International Aerospace of an improved version known as the Avro RJ began in 1992. A further-improved version with new engines, the Avro RJX, was announced in 1997, but only two prototypes and one production aircraft were built before production ceased in 2001. With 387 aircraft produced, the Avro RJ/BAe 146 is the most successful British civil jet airliner programme. The BAe 146/Avro RJ is a high-wing cantilever monoplane with a T-tail. It has four geared turbofan engines mounted on pylons underneath the wings, and has a retractable tricycle landing gear. The Yakovlev Yak-40 (russian: Яковлев Як-40; NATO reporting name: Codling) is a regional jet designed by Yakovlev. The trijet's maiden flight was in 1966, and it was in production from 1967 to 1981. Introduced in September 1968, the Yak-40 has been exported since 1970. Development By the early 1960s, Soviet international and internal trunk routes were served by Aeroflot, the state airline, using jet or turboprop powered airliners, but their local services, many of which operated from grass airfields, were served by obsolete piston-engine aircraft such as the Ilyushin Il-12, Il-14 and Lisunov Li-2.Stroud 1968, p. 269–270. Samarkand Airways
Samarkand Airways ( uz, Samarqand Havo Yo’llari, ) was an airline based in Uzbekistan that performed passenger and cargo charter flights. Established in 2005 out a joint American-Uzbekistani venture based out of Kentucky, the parent company, Universal Mobility Solutions, provided the aircraft for the fleet. The airline intended to establish a regular scheduled cargo route out of Tashkent to Dushanbe in 2008 using Ilyushin Il-76 and Antonov An-12 aircraft, but such a route was not established. Passenger charters were carried out on Tupolev Tu-154, Yakovlev Yak-40, Yakolev Yak-40 and British Aerospace 146, Avro RJ-85 aircraft, while chartered cargo flights used an Antonov An-26.
