List Of Artillery
Artillery has been one of primary weapons of war since before the Napoleonic Era. Several countries have developed and built artillery systems, while artillery itself has been continually improved and redesigned to meet the evolving needs of the battlefield. This has led to a multitude of different types and designs which have played a role in the history of warfare and continue to be a significant factor in modern combat. For the most part, the following lists of artillery cover guns, howitzers, mortars, and other large projectile weapons. Small arms and missiles are not generally included, though rockets and other bombardment weapons may be. For a more complete listing of various weapons, see list of weapons. __NOTOC__ By name : ''See list of artillery by name'' By type : ''See full list of artillery by type or jump to a specific type from the list below:'' By caliber List of the largest cannon by caliber By country : ''See full list of artillery by country ...

Artillery By Type
Artillery is a class of heavy military ranged weapons that launch munitions far beyond the range and power of infantry firearms. Early artillery development focused on the ability to breach defensive walls and fortifications during sieges, and led to heavy, fairly immobile siege engines. As technology improved, lighter, more mobile field artillery cannons developed for battlefield use. This development continues today; modern self-propelled artillery vehicles are highly mobile weapons of great versatility generally providing the largest share of an army's total firepower. Originally, the word "artillery" referred to any group of soldiers primarily armed with some form of manufactured weapon or armor. Since the introduction of gunpowder and cannon, "artillery" has largely meant cannons, and in contemporary usage, usually refers to shell-firing guns, howitzers, and mortars (collectively called ''barrel artillery'', ''cannon artillery'', ''gun artillery'', or - a layman te ...

List Of Recoilless Rifles
This is a list of recoilless rifles ( RCLs) intended to catalogue these lightweight infantry support weapons that allow the firing of a heavier projectile than would be practical with a recoiling artillery gun. Technically, only devices that use a rifled barrel are recoilless ''rifles''. The smoothbore variants (those devoid of rifling) are termed recoilless ''guns''. This distinction is often lost, and both are often called recoilless rifles. Normally used for anti-tank roles, the first effective system of this kind was developed during World War II to provide infantry with a light, cheap and easily deployable weapon that does not require extensive training in gunnery. The near complete lack of recoil allows some versions to be shoulder-fired, but the majority are mounted on light tripods and are intended to be easily carried by a soldier. List Of Tank Main Guns
This is a list of tank main guns which are designed or used as the primary weapon of combat by tanks, such as light tanks, medium tanks, heavy tanks, or main battle tanks. Many tanks have other, secondary weapons installed in them, such as machine guns, autocannons and small calibre mortars, which are not included in this list. Also excluded from this list are weapons installed in self-propelled artillery vehicles such as assault guns or tank destroyers that usually lack turrets. This is due to the unique nature of turreted tank tactics, their design, and operation.
