Lise Myhre
Lise Myhre (born 1 November 1975 in Lørenskog) is a Norwegian cartoonist. Her most famous cartoon is ''Nemi''. Biography After a short study of graphical design at the Santa Monica College of Art in California, Lise Myhre started her career as an artist, earning money illustrating CD covers and T-shirts. She also participated in cartoon competitions and started giving contributions to ''Larsons Galne Verden'', the Norwegian version of Gary Larson's magazine ''The Far Side'' ("M.P." in 1996). From 1997, Myhre was given her own page in ''Larsons Gale Verden'', "Den svarte siden" ( en, the Black Side/Page), and this developed into Nemi. From 1999, Nemi was a guest cartoon in the Norwegian newspaper ''Dagbladet'', and from 2000 as a regular. The first Nemi album was published the summer 2000, and it was a great success. ICS Vortex
Simen Hestnæs (born 4 March 1974), better known by his stage name ICS Vortex or simply Vortex, is a Norwegian musician. He is the vocalist of the similarly named band ICS Vortex, the avant-garde metal band Arcturus and the doom metal band Lamented Souls. He is also the vocalist and bass guitarist to the progressive black metal band Borknagar, and the former bass guitarist and backing vocalist for the symphonic black metal band Dimmu Borgir. Biography His longest-running band is the doom metal band Lamented Souls, which began in 1991 and for which he plays guitar and handles the vocal duties. André Bjerke
Jarl André Bjerke (30 January 1918 – 10 January 1985) was a Norwegian writer and poet. He wrote a wide range of material: poems (both for children and adults), mystery novels (four of them under the pseudonym Bernhard Borge), essays, and articles. He translated works by Shakespeare, Molière, Goethe and Racine. Bjerke was known as a prominent proponent of the Riksmål language during the Norwegian language struggle, and of anthroposophy, especially in the 1950s and launched a magazine, ''Ordet'', in the same period. Several of Bjerke's poems have been set to music by Marcus Paus. Background Bjerke was born at Kristiania (now Oslo), Norway. His parents were the author Ejlert Bjerke and Karin (Svensson) Bjerke. Nemi (comic Strip)
''Nemi'' is a Norwegian comic strip, written and drawn by Lise Myhre. It made its first appearance in 1997 under the title ''Den svarte siden'' ("the Black Side" or "the Black Page"). At that time, it was a very dark cartoon concerning heavy metal subcultures. Over the years, Myhre has turned it brighter, though she still frequently publishes strips about serious issues, especially in the larger Saturday panels. The strip was renamed ''Nemi'' after its protagonist, a young goth woman. Myhre has also illustrated poems by Edgar Allan Poe and André Bjerke in the strip. Publication Newspapers In the United Kingdom and Ireland, the strip was, until 8 January 2016, printed daily in the ''Metro'' newspaper, after translation into English; background images, and magazines the characters are reading often remain clearly in Norwegian.
