Lisco, Nebraska
Lisco is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Garden County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 64 at the 2010 census. History Lisco was laid out in 1909 when the Union Pacific Railroad was extended to that point. The community was named after Reuben Lisco, a cattleman who owned about of land in the area, including the land on which the town currently stands. Mr. Lisco later became the president of the Lisco State Bank. In the 2000 United States Census, the community of Lisco was mistakenly called "Cisco" by the Census Bureau. The surrounding census county division (CCD) was still called Lisco. By 2005, the Census Bureau had realized its error, stating that "Lisco census designated place (CDP) is erroneously shown...with the name 'Cisco.'" Adrian Esquino Lisco (died September 8, 2007) was an El Salvadoran activist and spiritual chief and advisor to El Salvador's indigenous community. Lisco rose to international prominence during the Salvadoran Civil War when he called attention to human rights atrocities committed against El Salvador's indigenous peoples, who number about 1 percentEl Salvador of the country's 7 million people. Early life Adrian Esquino Lisco was born in Comarca San Ramon, in western Sonsonate Department, El Salvador. He was of indigenous Nahua heritage. Esquino Lisco's older brother had been killed during the suppression of the 1932 Salvadoran peasant uprising (also called ''La matanza'') by the Salvadoran dictatorship. Esquino Lisco was described as a short, soft-spoken man who was less than 5 feet tall. He was a farmer and artisan by profession. Emil Gustav Lisco (January 13, 1819 – February 8, 1887) was a German Protestant Christian pastor. Lisco was born in Berlin, the son of Friedrich Gustav Lisco, a pastor and theologian. Friedrich Gustav Lisco
Friedrich Gustav Lisco (February 12, 1791 – July 5, 1866) was a German Protestant Christian theologian born in Brandenburg an der Havel. His son, Emil Gustav Lisco, was also a preacher. He studied at Viadrina University in Frankfurt and at the University of Berlin, where his instructors were Friedrich Schleiermacher, August Boeckh, Wilhelm Martin Leberecht de Wette and Johann Gottlieb Fichte, with the latter being an important influence to his career.
