Lisa Shaw is an R&B and house music singer from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Biography Early life Born in Canada to Jamaican parents, Lisa Shaw was raised in Scarborough, Ontario the youngest of six kids. Growing up, Lisa was influenced by artists such as Sade, Billie Holiday, Stevie Nicks, Roberta Flack and Kate Bush. Tagging along to clubs with her older sisters exposed her to disco/funk acts Chic, Sister Sledge, The S.O.S. Band and Kool & the Gang. Kool & the Gang is an American R&B/soul/funk band formed in Jersey City, New Jersey, in 1964 by brothers Robert "Kool" Bell and Ronald Bell, with Dennis "Dee Tee" Thomas, Robert "Spike" Mickens, Charles Smith, George Brown, and Ricky West. ''Morning Becomes Eclectic'' (MBE) is a three-hour adult album alternative radio program first aired in 1977 and broadcast live every weekday from KCRW in Santa Monica, California. The show's name is a play on the Eugene O'Neill trilogy of plays, ''Mourning Becomes Electra''. The program was created by Isabel Holt. MBE was previously hosted by Tom Schnabel (July 1979 - November 1990), Chris Douridas (1990 - 1998), and Nic Harcourt (1998 - November 2008). Jason Bentley followed Harcourt as host in 2008. ''America's Best Dance Crew'', often abbreviated as ''ABDC'', was an American competitive dance reality television series that features both national and international dance crews. The show was produced by singer, record producer, and former ''American Idol'' judge Randy Jackson. The series premiered on February 7, 2008, on MTV. Kaba Modern is a dance group originating in Irvine, California. Kaba Modern is a spin-off of the University of California, Irvine Filipino cultural club, Kababayan, which means "countrymen" in Tagalog. Created by Arnel Calvario in 1992, Kaba Modern began as dancers that performed the hip-hop portion or the "Modern Suite" of Kababayan's annual Pilipino Cultural Night (PCN) at UCI.
