Lisa O. Roberts is vice chancellor and chief executive of the University of Exeter. She took over from professor Steve Smith on his retirement on 1 September 2020. Early life In 1990, Roberts graduated with a Bachelor of Science in medical microbiology and general microbiology from the University of Birmingham. Career After graduation, Roberts joined Procter and Gamble as a product development manager in the UK and Belgium. In 1995, she moved to the BBSRC Institute for Animal Health (now the Pirbright Institute) and the University of Kent, where she studied for a PhD in molecular virology. In 1998, she joined the University of Surrey academic staff, where she became lecturer, senior lecturer, and professor of virology. Lisa Roberts is a Canadian politician, who was elected to the Nova Scotia House of Assembly in a by-election on August 30, 2016. She represented the electoral district of Halifax Needham as a member of the Nova Scotia New Democratic Party until 2021. She was re-elected in the 2017 provincial election. Roberts announced in February 2021 that she would seek nomination as the NDP candidate for Halifax in the next federal election, but continue her role as MLA until either the next federal or provincial election, whichever came first. She represented the NDP in the 2021 federal election but finished second, behind Andy Fillmore of the Liberal Party. Hole was an American alternative rock band formed in Los Angeles, California in 1989 in music, 1989. It was founded by singer Courtney Love and guitarist Eric Erlandson. It had several different bassists and drummers, the most prolific being drummer Patty Schemel, and bassists Kristen Pfaff (d. 1994) and Melissa Auf der Maur. Hole released a total of four studio albums between two incarnations spanning the 1990s and early-2010s and became one of the most commercially successful rock bands in history fronted by a woman. Influenced by Los Angeles' punk rock scene, the band's debut album, ''Pretty on the Inside'' (1991), was produced by Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth, and attracted critical interest from British and American alternative press.
