Lisa Popeil
Lisa Stephanie Popeil (born February 24, 1956, in Chicago) is an American voice coach, singer, and musician. She is the creator of the trademarked ''Voiceworks Method'' and, as a voice coach, specializes in the pedagogy of vocal styles. Early life and education Popeil is the eldest daughter of inventor S. J. Popeil (1915–1984) and Eloise Popeil (1925–2010). Popeil's half-brother, Ron Popeil, was an inventor and marketer. Popeil's musical training began at the age of four when she began studying piano and voice. Popeil attended Sacred Heart Schools and the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools. After moving to Newport Beach, California in 1971, she graduated from Corona del Mar High School. In 1974, she attended Prescott College in Prescott, Arizona, then attended the California Institute of the Arts where she earned her BFA in General Music (piano, composition and voice) and an MFA in Voice. ''Ship Arriving Too Late to Save a Drowning Witch'' is an album by American musician Frank Zappa, released in May 1982 and digitally remastered in 1991. It features five tracks composed by Zappa, and one song, "Valley Girl", co-written with his daughter, Moon Zappa, then a teen, who provided the spoken monologue mocking Valley girls, including phrases like "Gag me with a spoon!". The album's first half consists of studio recordings, while the second half consists of live recordings. Production Side one was recorded at Zappa's Utility Muffin Research Kitchen studio at his home in Los Angeles; while side two consisted of live performances from Zappa's fall 1981 U.S. tour with studio overdubs. Tacky (song)
"Tacky" is a song by American musician "Weird Al" Yankovic from his fourteenth studio album, ''Mandatory Fun'' (2014). The song is a parody of the 2013 single " Happy" by Pharrell Williams. The song mocks questionable style in fashion as well as activities considered gauche. Yankovic recorded the song as one of the last on ''Mandatory Fun'', and received Williams' approval directly, through email. He remarked he was "honored" to have his work spoofed by Yankovic. The song's one-shot music video parodies "Happy", and was the first in a series of eight videos released over eight days in promotion of ''Mandatory Fun''. It features cameo appearances by Aisha Tyler, Margaret Cho, Eric Stonestreet, Kristen Schaal, and Jack Black, and was produced by Nerdist Industries. Erik Satie
Eric Alfred Leslie Satie (, ; ; 17 May 18661 July 1925), who signed his name Erik Satie after 1884, was a French composer and pianist. He was the son of a French father and a British mother. He studied at the Paris Conservatoire, but was an undistinguished student and obtained no diploma. In the 1880s he worked as a pianist in café-cabaret in Montmartre, Paris, and began composing works, mostly for solo piano, such as his ''Gymnopédies'' and '' Gnossiennes''. He also wrote music for a Rosicrucian sect to which he was briefly attached. After a spell in which he composed little, Satie entered Paris's second music academy, the Schola Cantorum, as a mature student.
