Lisa Lockhart (born November 11, 1965) is an American professional rodeo cowgirl who specializes in barrel racing. In December 2014 and 2016, she won the Average at the National Finals Rodeo (NFR) in Las Vegas, Nevada.''Barrel Racing Average Champions 1959 – 2020'', ''p. 8.'' Life Lockhart was born on November 11, 1965, in Wolf Point, Montana. Lockhart started riding at 6-years-old with a pony. Her two sisters were key in drawing her into competition. Lockhart graduated from Montana State University. She then turned her amateur career into a professional one. She is the aunt of 2017 and 2019 Professional Bull Riders World Champion Jess Lockwood. Career Lockhart joined the WPRA in 1993. Rodeo () is a competitive equestrian sport that arose out of the working practices of cattle herding in Spain and Mexico, expanding throughout the Americas and to other nations. Calf Roping
Calf roping, also known as tie-down roping, is a rodeo event that features a calf and a rider mounted on a horse. The goal of this timed event is for the rider to catch the calf by throwing a loop of rope from a lariat around its neck, dismount from the horse, run to the calf, and restrain it by tying three legs together, in as short a time as possible. A variant on the sport, with fewer animal welfare controversies, is breakaway roping, where the calf is roped, but not tied. Origin The event derives from the duties of actual working cowboys, which often required catching and restraining calves for branding or medical treatment. Ranch hands took pride in the speed with which they could rope and tie calves which soon turned their work into informal contests. Buckskin (horse)
Buckskin is a hair coat color of horses, referring to a color that resembles certain shades of tanned deerskin. Similar colors in some breeds of dogs are also called buckskin. The horse has a tan or gold colored coat with black points (mane, tail, and lower legs). Buckskin occurs as a result of the cream dilution gene acting on a bay horse. Therefore, a buckskin has the Extension, or "black base coat" (E) gene, the agouti gene (A) gene (see bay for more on the agouti gene), which restricts the black base coat to the points, and one copy of the cream gene (CCr), which lightens the red/brown color of the bay coat to a tan/gold. Buckskins should not be confused with dun-colored horses, which have the dun dilution gene, not the cream gene. Kelly Kaminski
Kelly Kaminski is a two-time World Barrel Racing Champion. In December 2004 and 2005, she won the championship at the Thomas & Mack Center at the National Finals Rodeo (NFR) in Las Vegas, Nevada. Life Kaminski overcame many obstacles in her life to become a world champion. She had limited exposure to barrel racing in her youth and did not have a horse until her early teens. She did not compete until after graduating college. She became a teacher after college, her salary forcing her to forego most of the futurity and derby competition. But her motto is "Dream Big and Believe". Career Kaminski was pregnant during the year Rocky was eligible for the futurity. Due to this, she only entered one futurity. However, she did go to many Quarter Horse shows, and qualified for the World Show. Still pregnant, she made that her last show until after Kenna was born.
