Liopholis Slateri Slateri
''Liopholis'' is a genus of skinks, lizards in the family Scincidae. Species of the genus are found in the Australian region. They were previously placed in the genus ''Egernia''. Description ''Liopholis'' are smallish to largish-sized skinks. They may attain an adult snout-vent length (SVL) of , with a bulky angular body. They have 34–52 rows of midbody scales; dorsal scales are usually smooth. The nasal scale has no postnarial groove; the subocular scale row is incomplete. The eyes are relatively large, and the eyelids usually have conspicuous cream-coloured margins. White's Skink
White's skink (''Liopholis whitii)'', also known commonly as White's rock skink, is a species of lizard in the family Scincidae. The species is endemic to Australia. Etymology The specific name, ''whitii'', is in honour of Irish surgeon and naturalist John White. Geographic range ''L. whitii'' is widespread in south-eastern Australia, including Tasmania and many Bass Strait islands. Habitat The preferred natural habitats of ''L. whitii'' are forest, shrubland, and rocky areas, at altitudes from sea level to . White's skinks prefer a habitat with rocks, shrubby heathland and minimal human environmental disturbance. They also dig tunnels underground and have two entrances to the tunnel if needing an escape route. They also have well covered and hidden entrances to avoid predators. Francis John Mitchell
John Mitchell (Francis John Mitchell, 1929–1970) was a biologist and curator with a special interest in herpetology. Active from South Australia, he was vice president of the state's Royal Society and employed at South Australian Museum. His initial positions at the museum related to the reptile and frog collections, leading to his role as head curator of the vertebrates in 1965. An active and competitive skin diver who was involved in ocean sports and associations, Mitchell was able to align these interests by obtaining specimens from spear and big game fisherman. Amandus Heinrich Christian Zietz
Amandus Heinrich Christian Zietz (13 June 1840 – 2 August 1921) was a zoologist and paleontologist born in Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein, and best known for his work at the South Australian Museum in Adelaide, after arriving in South Australia in 1883. He and his son Frederick Robert Zietz, also a zoologist, worked on preserving bones from a diprotodon skeleton. Along with E. C. Stirling, also at the South Australian museum, he undertook the direction of the first major palaeontology excavation at Lake Callabonna, where a large series of ''Diprotodont'' skeletal material was collected. Zietz was responsible for identifying a hitherto unknown species of shark from Investigator Strait, which became known as ''Asymbolus vincenti'', or Gulf catshark. Sir Edward Charles Stirling (8 September 1848 – 20 March 1919) was an Australian anthropology, anthropologist and the first professor of physiology at the University of Adelaide. The species is endemic to the western half of Australia. It is a burrowing lizard and extremely social.
